first time posting in O8 forum. Read a bunch of the Jeff Hwang books back in the day, but this was from my first session of O8 cash online haha. I want to learn a bit more about omaha, and O8 is relatively lower variance, so I figured I would take a bit of a break from hold'em hold'em hold'em and put in some volume at the most exciting stakes possible!
So, this pretty much a question about overall play in hand. How is my pre-flop hand selection, is this too loose to open on the button? Flop, I don't see any merit in raising, I just flat. Turn, I don't want to lose the short stack, and am not really repping a lot of value Hi, as I'm not going to open a lot of Qx + low connectors, QQ I open I guess but I'd prob raise flop to deny lows, also no lower sets not raising flop and raising turn when a low comes in. etc, so it looks like I'm freerolling with a low anyway. Want to give an inferior low a chance to call, or a hi to look me up freerolling. River is...great. I get shoved into, not sure if call is standard as villain is repping A36 and has pretty tight stats. I am honestly not sure about this spot, I don't know if it's standard to fold thinking we're getting quartered. As it happens, we chop the shorty (unsurprising)
PF is fine. Turn seems ok - you could probably go bigger as SB has spr <1 so he is almost never folding. You block A36 pretty good so I wouldn’t worry about getting quartered too much, although you’re almost never scooping either so would only reraise if BB has so little stack left like here.
