Hey, I'm a PLO cash game player but have always enjoyed PLO 8 (MTTs up to $109) when I've played it. Never studied it though besides watching a few videos and just had a few questions.

The only program I've used is Odds Oracle to get an idea of equities. Is there anything else I should be doing? Not sure if people are using Monker to study these?

Also I see there's a few books but I'm always cautious of poker books since the strategies tend to be pretty dated. Any recommendations for still relevant books that aren't too basic?

Really I'm just wondering how would go about getting to an advanced level in PLO8 (and also NLO8) or is everyone just using intuition and nobody really knows the GTO plays?

Thanks

I don't even know if Monker has any features involving hi/lo. If you are into a more theoretical approach, I can't recommend any hi/lo-books. Saying that they are dated is a compliment.

I don't know if someone knows (pseudo)-GTO plays, but I don't think it's that important due to the way field plays. I think the best thing you can do is to understand how poker works (I'd recommend studying PLO rather than NLHE though, due to PLO being more similar game) and take it from there.

Thanks for the response. I'm actually glad that's the case, shows how far behind these games are theory wise.

Agree with amok that playing exploitatively works fine for O8.

Mark opponents who often chase lows and exploit them on flops with just one low card. And it always helps to have some backdoor flush draws.
