Sure it's been discussed at some point.

Curious on thoughts about playing one way hands multiway.

Ex. We're in BB with T779, 2 limpers, and SB completes.

Flop: 689r (OOP after SB checks to limpers)

Same for say A244 on maybe 24T IP 3 way in a raised pot.

I'm sure we're adjusting some for SPR, but what's our generally preferred route? Blasting away, going for check raise, small-betting, or check-calling flop. I can see merits and issues to all really.

I think the spots you describe are very different. In the first one the difference between betting small, betting big and checking isn't huge. In the second situation you just need to bet for value/protection.

yeah, I just played the first one before posting and recalled a similar spot.

At least we're blocking other nut straights.

I think when shallow it's easy to blast, or go for check shove, but when deep here do we want to be a little careful, and simultaneously try and weed a few low's into the pot rather than out, in order to maximize our high earning multi-way while treading a little safe when it comes low-runner runner flush, or maybe pairs the board?

On the 2nd spot ahh, yeah we have positional advantage, so this changes quite a bit. I was just trying to add IP for more of a macro view, but really it's a little more tricky OOP I suppose.

OOP 24T, I suppose we're often going to be up against A3 or A5 combos, and sometimes A35 when they continue. Making it a little less comfy on us when a 5 or 3 spike, or any low really negating half of the pot at least.

What's your preferred route OOP in these spots @Amok? I just blasted the T779 board, got one caller who spiked low on turn and turned backdoor flush draw with 2p.. We chopped, but ended up all in by river which could have been uncomfy. I remember recently getting it in with a set in a live tourney too to end up losing both ways by river after blasting away early.

Thinking if we bet low, we do get multiple players in more often of course creating some additional risk, but we can leverage more sizings on turn too this way depending on whether a safe card hits or not. This mitigates a bit of risk while adding some value to the pot when the low gets there multiway for our high. Probe bet sizings may encourage light raises of course which we like to see.

In general, I try to keep it simple. In a limped 4-way pot, I don't have multiple sizings even. If villains tend to call too much (which they do) I'd prefer betting the nuts on that board. I don't think there is anything particularly wrong with checking intending to likely call a bet. Not a huge fan of getting a ton of money in with such a mediocre hand, so I don't love c/r, assuming plenty of stacks left.
