Wow if Kansas loses, this has to be the biggest upset in the tourney history, no? The overall #1 seed losing in the second round?

fo sho, specially kansas. St. Marys are also my boys, grew up 2 minutes away. And like usual everyone rides the Big East's nuts and snubs the pac 10.

One of the announcers said in 2004, Kentucky was overall #1 seed and lost in the 2nd round also. So I guess it's one of the biggest upsets.

Honestly, I like the way these small schools play as a team, especially, St. Mary's. Not like an individual sport, in basketball, team with decent athletes that plays well together will beat a team that's full of athletes that like to play 1-on-1. At least in the college level.

Since Pac-10 wasn't that strong this year, I didn't really follow NCAA. But each year, the seedings are almost always, East coast biased.

Well, pretty exciting tourney so far. I'm rooting for all the small schools, UW, Cal, and of course Kentucky...

Not really, 1s losing to 8s or 9s isn't that uncommon. "Overall #1 seed" didn't exist as a designation until 2004, but the Roy Williams KU team that lost to UTEP in 1992 might have been considered the best team in the tournament, I can't recall.

I think the 15-over-2 upsets are more historic, because there have only been four of them, and because 15-seeds are automatic qualifiers from smaller conferences that literally wouldn't be in the NCAA if not for conference tournament wins. If I had to pick one of those, let's take Santa Clara over Arizona in 1993.
