Hey all,

I play in a PS Home mix league. Our tourneys usually get 7-24 players so we play shorthanded a lot, we often have lots of short handed bubble situations that come up.

My question is there a resource that goes over short handed O8 mtt play? I feel like I have a decent grasp of full ring hand ranges but feel I may be too tight short handed. The second i loosen up a bit, specifically in my BB defense ranges, i feel like i'm torching EV lol.

One example is a hand from today. 3 get paid, 4 remaining and i'm shortest stack with 4ish BB(8bb). I get 23KdddJs and face a raise from UTG. Yeah not a great hand but can we afford to be picky this short handed and is this worth seeing a flop with? My default would be to play this hand to a flop, seems pretty standard imo, but i'm just questioning my play a bit after a bad run of late.

LO8 or PLO8?

For LO8, I'd be defending here. PLO8, probably not. For PLO8, I'd prefer to be opening WAY wide on the BTN or CO than calling / stacking from the blinds with mediocre hands. The rationale behind that is that most O8 players don't alter their ranges enough at the end game, so UTG raise is generally a quality raise
