This was in a recent .10/.25 Big O H/L game on Stars.
I am relatively new to Big O. Although there are some aggressive players at the table, these players struck me as quite loose and just splashing around.
Dealt to Hero [Js Jd 2c Ac 7s]
Button : Hero: raises $0.25 to $0.50
SB: Villain 1: calls $0.40
BB: Villain 2: calls $0.25
*** FLOP *** [7h 8h 3c]
Villain 1: bets $1.77
Villain 2: calls $1.77
Hero: call or fold
At first, it seemed like a good flop for me. While I don't pretend to be the best handreader, when Villain 1 donk bet the pot, I remember pausing and thinking that it was out of character and that he really liked his hand - I was thinking that maybe he had a nut lo as well, two pair or a set. Who knows what Villain 2 had ? Normally Villain 1 is a check-call or minbet kind of guy.
If this read is accurate, how nitty would it be to just fold and lose 50 cents given that there aren't a whole lot of ways for my hand to improve (2 outs to a set, 2 outs to trips and a couple of runner runner straights - plus I have a naked lo) ?
I don't know if I'm overthinking and if I am being influenced by the outcome of the hand, but I am starting to realize that these early decisions quickly get amplified on each street. Or maybe a fold is standard.
I'm curious what others think.
