Right now on PS there is only 1 table =50 cents, all others are below. For me it's exactly as I said. PLO8 midstakes is dead.
Yes today is Monday, but PLO8 tourneys are rather live, including $215 omania.

Step 1: realize how much you suck
I was beating my limit solidly, right from the start. In fact, I started playing O8, because unlike Hold'em not everyone had a 10 years learning headstart on me. So while I was aware that I only understood basics of the game, I couldn't be totally terrible, if I was winning, right?
Wrong. I think, about 3 months ago, I looked at my hands and had this moment, where I thought. "Caterina, you are absolutely terrible at the game. You ranges are completly messed up, you overfold to shoves, because you have been running under EV, you make so many mistakes, how can you be THIS bad after all the hands you have played?" I seriously wondered, if I should stop playing at all. I came to the conclusion that I wasn't playing for money but rather love the depth of the game (I have a master degree in math), the intellectual challenge and it gives me something to do (I can't work anymore due to illness). So that's the reason, why I continue despite being terrible.

Step 2: realize how much everyone else sucks
Have reached this state about 2 weeks ago. Realizing your own mistakes makes you see those of others so much more clearly. Yes, I'm bad, but most others around me are even worse.

Step 3: try to improve and take advantage of the mistakes other players make
Well, emphasis on "try". Work in progress.

Felt like sharing.

I am not a specialist in this topic, and I don't understand is this a one time problem for software download or permanent problem for playing. Anyway one of the solution is to use VPN. AFAIK There are some free ones and some realy good (but not free) ones like Hide My Ass! and NordVPN.

Yes. I've heard people claim that having 10 BB is plenty, but that's silly. You at LEAST want to have 12, and if you're playing a HK game, you wanna have 18.

Basic limit strategy says never run out of bets, so it doesn't matter if you buy in for 50BB, just DON'T RUN OUT OF BETS!!! If you're getting around the 10BB range, add on!

What? I would always play with a fraction of a bet, if it was allowed.

I usually play $6/$12 with a 1/3 kill. The typical buy-in in my game is $200 (17 big bets). I usually buy in for $300 or $400 (25 or 33 big bets). Other experienced, winning players typically buy in for $400. When I see someone buy in for $60 or even $120 (5 or 10 big bets), that's usually a sign that they're a losing player trying to keep their loss for this session to a minimum—or that they're insufficiently bankrolled for the game, which often goes hand in hand with being a losing player.

If I get down to about $150 (12.5 big bets), I rebuy. I like to have a lot of chips in front of me at all times.

Noob question...how often does it work out that there is no low pot awarded? Is there a thread on the subject somewhere? It seems the more aggressive I get trying to build pots with a good low hand the more likely it is that there’s no low at all or I get counterfeited 😀

Good question—and one that our former moderator Buzz has answered many times. If the hand goes to the river, a low will be possible 60% of the time. In actual game play, however, the low half of the pot will only be awarded about 50% of the time, because players with qualifying low hands won't always make it to showdown.

Here's a link to a relevant thread on this topic:
https://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/4...w-hand-562601/

As for getting counterfeited, be wary of building pots with a good low hand (or draw) without backup. According to http://www.o8poker.com/Strategy/keypercent.php, "If you have A2 with a 34K flop, [the] chances you'll be counterfeited are ~25.2%." You want to have A25x in that spot, or at least A26x.

And backup is no guarantee either (unless getting counterfeited gives you a wheel: you want that to happen). I remember the first time I had backup and got double-counterfeited. The flop was 87J and I had A23T. The turn was a 2 and the river was a 3, for a final board of 87J23. So I made a low, but now anyone with A4, A5, 45, A6, 46, or 56 had a better low. How is that even possible? I thought. Easy: one of 9 cards comes on the turn, then one of 6 cards comes on the river. That will happen about 2.7% of the time.

Good luck!

A few preflop questions.

1. 3-betting. Do we have a non-shove 3-bet range 100bb deep? Notice a lot of layers only shove as a 3-bet 100bb deep.
If so, what is the rough stack depth cut off between shoving and 3-betting?

2. In BB vs 1+ limper, 100bb deep, do we have a shoving range? In an old post amok, you say you shove weak aces? Anything else? What about in very loose fun player lineups?

3. Is open limping okay? More in loose games?

4. Larger raise sizes vs big fun players with low 3b % (say 3.5x) or always rfi same size?

1. I think both are fine strategies. You can 3-bet smaller from IP and shove OOP, for example. Say +150bb deep it can get a bit troublesome to have a shoving range.

2. I still think shoving weak aces is the most +ev play with those hands. Depends on a lot of factors, like what are they limping with etc.

3. I think it can be OK, but the easier way is to open small with your vpip-range.

4. I think raising bigger makes sense there, assuming the target player is in BB.

does anyone with a track record of winning at LO8 cash games coach LO8?
looking for someone who beats midstakes or online games (so not loose passive games where u get 5+ ways to a flop)

just looking for someone with solid basic strat that works well over a decent sample size

will swap strats in other games (LHE or Stud8) or pay for lessons
pm me. ty

I lost a big hand today where I opened in the CO and BTN 3-bet me. I was thinking about 4-betting A764 ds, but I elected to call. The hand went to showdown and villain showed the magical 8822. I haven't played PLO8 for quite some time now, so I wonder if this 3-bet is lol bad, super standard in general or just a big **** you play against a guy whom villain may have perceived to be a loose-passive fish post-flop?

My guess is my stats are rather tight, but I tend to play fit or fold post flop.
