Very short Vegas trip at end of the month, with one full day being the 30th. I see there is a $250 LO8 at PH. Can anyone say if this is a decent tourney or not? And is PH any good to play in? (Mostly I've played at Caesars/Venetian before)

It's probably a decent tourney, nothing special rake/structure wise.

PH is one of the worst places to play imo, but it's not THAT bad.
Still, be prepared for dark environs (that they always claim have been upgraded), wobbly chairs, funky tables (high rails sometimes), and shaky dealers.

Also, turnout may be significantly affected by day 1 of DSE $1100 PLO8 that day.

Somehow misread as June 30, ignore the competing MTT.

On a positive note, late reg. until level 13.

I'll probably give it a go, even if PH doesn't get the best write-up. It is the day before the WSOP $1500 LO8 so maybe get folks using it as a warm-up. Haven't been in town during the big summer series before and if I'd thought about it before I could have organised my trip differently to be in town for longer and take in a couple of longer events.

It's really not that bad, but it's irritating to be down to 2-3 tables of a multi-day 2 MTT and have wonky chairs, a poker table more akin to a craps table, and cocktail waitresses that are often MIA. They also failed to draw for game when they combined tables in PLO/PLO8 MTT, just decided to start with PLO again (I think when it went from 3 to 2 tables). PH could be such a great summer venue for poker, but they find so many ways to shoot themselves in the foot, over and over IMO.

The tourney itself should be fine, just may have some inexperienced dealers, but FL is way easier than PL for dealers.

I think you're right about it being a warm-up and it should get a good turnout.
