Pre Flop: (1.4 SB) Hero is BTN with A Q A T
2 folds, CO checks, Hero raises, 1 fold, BB calls, CO calls

Flop: (6.4 SB) 5 6 9 (3 players)
BB bets, CO folds, Hero folds

Is this a peel? I got a backdoor flushdraw but the floptexture scares me.

hmmm, i think i fold this spot more than i do call or raise, even in position.

don't ever tell anyone what you fold, though. ever.

Agreed. Also, given the aces aren't suited up, you might consider limping these from time to time to help disguise your raising range. I haven't read your other posts yet, but I assume you're also putting some premium A2 hands in your raising range to avoid the "playing with half of your hand face-up" phenomenon.

Flop is close. we need about 29.2% equity for breaking even on blindly calling down. I think we're in the neighborhood of 25%. But we can do better than our blind equity while in position, I just don't have a sense of how much. Clearly, folding vs a third low card and clubs will probably be an easy way to improve it. Dunno. Could be the holdem talking.

Peel. Hero has ok equity against made hands (any high card or spade turn is good), good equity against draws, and is in position.

Maybe I'm a nit but I'm folding here...we are hoping for a high non club card? Our spade backdoor isn't the nuts. Villain can have a ton of hands that are only slightly behind us at the moment for chop at best. I guess peel is OK, I just don't think its worth fighting for. If the ace was a spade I would peel as in As10sAhQh

I thought hero had nut spades but still peel anyway. Most of the value of our hand is the AA.

My thought is that if it's close to break even, give or take 5%, with no reads, we should lean toward showing down here. You have a small bonus waiting for the times youre behind which is that note you can enter about opponent's donking range. I don't like spending money solely for the sake of information but in this particular spot I think the price is right.
