It plays in the yellow $2 chips and does kill to 9-18. If you know what you're doing, it is a productive game. I played it for over four hours today.

A previous iteration was 6-12 with a 1/3 kill (to 8-16).

Do any of the SF Bay Area Omaha 8 games (Oaks, LC, etc.) run past 6pm on Friday and Saturday evenings?

For years, I have been playing 4/8 Omaha 8 at the Lucky Buck in Livermore on Friday and/or Saturday evenings. The games have always been fun, I could always count on arriving between 6-8pm and getting into the game without a long wait, and the game would run easily run past midnight to make the night worthwhile. Well, in the transition to the new Casino 580, ParkWest (the new majority owner) has basically killed the poker action on Friday and Saturday nights, and it is now a glorified Baccarat lounge. Thus, I need a new place to play on the weekends.

I know Bay 101 and Cal Grand usually have a game, but the list never moves, and they will never open up a second table, no matter how many names are on the list. Any info would be appreciated, either on Oaks, LC, or any other Bay Area card room that regularly spreads Omaha 8 (I understand that Napa Valley Casino and Casino Real in Manteca both regularly spread Omaha 8).

Artichoke Joe's usually has a 4/8 HK game running on Fridays and LC has one Fridays and Saturdays. Both will occasionally open up a 2nd must move game if there is enough interest and they both run all night. Not sure about Oaks, but I do know they have 6/12 with 8/16 kill on Wednesdays and Thursdays. Hope this helps.

I used to live in Dublin, I used to play the 08 games at lucky buck and livermore casino all the time. I kinda got tired of the 4/8 and how slow the games can move there sometimes. Ill break down for you what I have found in the Bay area as far as 08 goes.I used to play 4 or 5 times a week and all of this is recent as of November, I recently moved down to Southern California so I hope this helps to some degree but the game at the Oaks was going strong when I left

Oaks Club - Thursday and Fridays is 6/12. Hands down best high low game in the bay area as far as making money. Since the 15/30 at lucky chances doesn't go anymore, this really is a great game to play in I highly recommend it. The game will have one or two rocks in but for the most part is very very lose and lots of action. They play with a 12/24 kill pot and It's on kill more often than not. If you play disciplined and are willing to grind it out for four hours or whatever you can make a couple racks if you don't tilt. The game starts at like 10am on Thursday and runs through the night, usually a decent list but there are often two games. It rarely runs 6/12 on Saturdays but the 4/8 game there goes every other day and has just as much gamble.

Ca Grand - Love the card room layout and hold em games, completely blows for omaha. They will only open up one table for this game, list is always 10 or 12 deep, mostly dealers and locals. Played 2, 2 4 with two on the button. The rake in this game is a joke and kind of slow. It's a great atmosphere for playing poker but if you are looking for a good game I might stay away from this one

Lucky Chances - this was way far for me but they do have really good games on Tuesdays when they play 6/12 and double jackpots but this in the week isnt really what your looking for but just something to be aware of. They usually have 4/8 most days during the week.

The east bay casinos are great because theyre never too crowded and the Omaha games used to be really frequent and pretty good. I haven't played there in about 4 months so I can't really speak for em. As far as good games go, I would head for the Oaks, No where close to as nice as what your used to but still a good game.

Didn't see the Peppermill in Reno mentioned, 4-8 LO8 with a half-kill runs regularly, and they've been getting a 10-20 game going on Sat/Sun.

LO8 update from a week spent in Vegas and LA. (By small bet; BB is 2x of course)

As stated by many, Venetian still has 4 FK, 8 FK, 15 TK nightly i think. Kill thresholds are scoops of $50, $80, and $150 respectively.

Last night i think the 8 MM broke around 2am but there was another 8 and a 4. Seems to have lost a little steam from last week when i arrived but still games are going. The 8 last week varied from pretty tight to really nice action -- often with the same players, as the competent ones got way up or down and started tilting violently. I only railbirded and logged a half hour in the 15, but it appeared the same.

The Orleans still has regular 4 HK but the 8 only goes sporadically when a bunch of people show up at once to get it going.

Word around LA is the Hawaiian Gardens has downgraded its 8 (?K) to a 6 FK, and finds that structure to work better for them. Both the Commerce Monday and the Bike Tuesday had 6 FK going with MMs for each. Monday's Commerce 6 was REALLY good. I forget the kill thresholds but i think Commerce is $84 and Bike is more like $100. Commerce and Bike also have regular 4 (HK?) and 3 (FK?), respectively. Commerce had a 40 (i think) get going Monday when i was in the high-limit room, but i didn't get to railbird it.

PLO8 you're on your own, but i can confirm that V seemed to be calling down a lot of 1-2 Big O8 games.

HTH.

UPDATING AN EARLIER POST:
WISCONSIN:
Potawatomi Bingo and Casino in Milwaukee runs a 3/6 LO8 every Saturday starting at about 9 AM and breaking anywhere from 2 PM to 2 AM the next Sunday morning, and every Tuesday morning starting at about 8 AM, usually with a very long list. Call 414-847-7605 to reserve a seat up to 2 hours in advance.

ILLINOIS:
Hollywood Aurora saw several consecutive weeks of a Friday night 5/10 LO8 with a full kill this spring, but it hasn't run for almost a year now. They used to run a 10/20 game, but I'm told that most of THOSE regs do their own home game now to bypass the rake. Definitely call to check before making a special trip 630-801-7471.

Pair-a-Dice Casino in East Peoria runs a 1/2 PLO8 every Saturday starting at 7 PM, and Tuesday starting at 6 PM. Tuesdays sometimes even see 2 tables running if there's enough interest. Demand for NLHE prevents two tables from running on Saturday. Call (309) 698-6693 early on Saturday to get on the list if you plan to sit at 7 PM.

INDIANA:
Horseshoe Casino in Hammond, IN often sees a 40/80 LO8 game on Friday nights. I'm told that 5/10 LO8 games occasionally run on Saturday nights, but I've never seen it. Call (219) 473-6065
before making a special trip.

Majestic Star Casino in Gary, IN has a 5/10 LO8 with a full kill every Friday and Saturday. Rake is $5 max + $1 BBJ. If you must play, this is the closest, most reliable option for those in the city of Chicago. You can call in to reserve a seat 219-977-7444. Surprisingly large room with half the tables empty on my Friday night visit.[/QUOTE]

4-8 OMAHA 1 (1/2 kill)
10-20 OMAHA 1 (1/2 kill)

The 10/20 at the Peppermill is a turd. $12 an hour rake per person and game is so nitty, I heard a person say it's 3 bb/100 just to break even.

$12 / hr equates to 30 hands/hr on a 10-handed table at $4 / hand. I'm used to playing where dealers struggle to get out 30 hands/hr, so i'm glad it's a rake, but i'm even sadder that it's max $6 / hand. Of course time charges hit tight players harder, because they're trying to win fewer, bigger pots. If this is a major issue, i'd suggest trying to introduce time pots to push the rake back on the looser players.
