How they treated him was disgraceful, and he won't be back to give the 'corporation' his business.
I actually doubt that many (if any) fish/donkeys would actually be coming to this site and read this thread. And, even though it's possible that a few of them have quit becasue of poker-room chat berating, I doubt it's considerable. Still though, I get your point... why take the chance of scaring off even a few. Admittedly I have struggled with keeping my mouth shut at times, especially after some horrendous donkey-reward-days on FTP where I've litterally had 80% of my showdowns lost to morons needing a 4-outer or less.

However, after getting a 3-month chat ban about 6 months ago, I simply never re-applied to have it re-instated. Plus, I've blocked everyone else's chat as well. So now when I get frustrated, I still type horrendous isults in the chat box, but of course they don't go through since I am banned lol.

Most people would rather choose the former because it's slightly less variance, but over a large sample they have the exact same impact on your bottom line.

It is just as easy to run below expectation when you're always freerolling (although you admitted it was only a theoretical situation, it is not characteristic of most O8 all-ins) as it is when you get scooped. In fact, over a very small sample size, it's actually easier to run below EV when you're always freerolling. If you scoop 8% of the time and split 92% of the time, you'll be getting "unlucky" 92% of the time. You're less likely to be unlucky in the hand if you scoop 16% of the time and get scooped 8% of the time because only 84% of the outcomes are below expectation. Over any reasonable sample size this is pretty much a wash, though.

If equities don't represent how well you are doing in a hand very well, what does? If you're all-in and 54% in a $100 pot, would it not be fair to take $54 and call it even regardless of whether you are freerolling, unable to split, or somewhere in between? This is what EV numbers and graphs boil down to regardless of the nature of the game. They eliminate one of the biggest luck/variance factors that determines $ won/lost, and that is the cards that come after players are all in and can no longer affect the outcome of the hand.

I'm gonna have to give that some thought.

I guess a better way to look at ev would be to split the pot in two. One pot for the high and one for the low and look at your ev in both.

You could just say whatever you feel out loud without typing anything in. That works for me most of the time. I haven't used the chat box in months.

Don't be a douche. Dave was here long before you were, contributing in threads and helping players learn the game. Say what you want about how he played lately, but he knows the game. And those of us that have been around here for a while know that Dave is a really good guy. So knock it off. Some of us do care, for good reason.

I bet he would own your face HU for stacks.. have you even played against him? Were you even born when he was playing O8? Have you even ever given any good advice to this forum - because I know for a fact he spent a lot of time here helping others.

Sure, that makes sense. If you're freerolling one way and have a 20% chance the other way, it can be considered two different hands. In one you're a lock to win, the other you're a 20% underdog. If you lose that second pot more than 20% of the time, you're running bad and below EV.

I can't believe you guys are sticking up for on of the most arrogant, abusive players I have had the pleasure of sharing a table with. Apparently I saw a different side of him then the previous two posters.

I never said the guy didn't do some things which might not be the best all the time - never. I've said things in chat box many times I later regret. Fact is, the guy(DB) is a pretty good O8 player (when not tilt boxxing away his $$$) and he spent plenty of time in this forum helping others - so before people get all critical, they should 1) know the guy to some decent extent 2) have some respect for what he contributed here. Some d-bag with 100 posts walks into this forum every day and sometimes they spout some insane crap - I have no respect for it. If Assani or Donger or even Buzz (haha) wants to spout some crap - they have a bit more of a right IMO.

If anyone knows ImSponsored can you ask him to stop sitting at my tables.

I notice he leaves Scott Clements and jajajagunit and anybody else who is good at heads-up alone but he basically stalks me. And sometimes he won't even play if I post a blind? It makes me wonder if I have some sort of internet security issue that I'm unaware of.
