Thumbs up I have not posted here in a while so...The Well: Jorge10

Ok so I never post here anymore because I have been very busy with school. I am done in May. I have used poker to pay for most of my education.

Backstory:

I was 20 years old watching TV one day on my second year of college. I saw the world poker tour and like just about every kid my age immediately went online and played. I had no money so I played the play money games on UB(Ultimate Bet) for fun. It turns out that they give you 1 ultimate point for every hour of play. A few months later I had a few 200-300 points. UB decided to open ultimate point sit and gos. I ran those points all the way up to 15k points. UB then let people pay for cash tourneys with points. 5 dollars was about 1300 points. I won my first one. I won 350 dollars. I bought a terrible book by Phil Hellmuth(sp?). I learned the rules to Omaha high low from the book and played the tourney the following day. I won that as well and won 950 dollars. Over the course of several months I won a few more, but had terrible spending habits and went broke almost broke. I moved the last 100 dollars I had to party. I tried NL Holdem and sucked. I tried Limit Omaha High Low and sucked. I played pot limit Omaha high low and worked my way up from the smallest stakes to the biggest they had there. I turned those 100 dollars into about 50k. When party died I quit poker for about 8 months. I logged onto full tilt one day and found that for some reason I had at one point made an account there and had 100 dollars in there. So far I have made about 42k from that. I have used most of it to pay for school. I currently have an adequate, but smallish bankroll. I play mostly small stakes because I never really thought about poker as a career. I just wanted cash to pay for school. If you have played on the .50/1 PLO8 or 1/2 PLO8 tables on full tilt in the last year I have probably played with you.

I’ll answer all questions since I have a week off from school and outside of going out with my friends on Saturday and Sunday nights I can’t seem to find something to do.

main difference here is that Jorge is better than all of them, better than you, and as good as many mid-stakes players.

Jorge - How come you always whoop me on Full Tilt?

btw - you may want to disclose your screenname, otherwise nobody's going to be interested. it's up to you though.

LOL, you own me dave. I try to get you to put money in bad, but you just always hit that one magical card to beat me down.

My screen name will get this thread going. My screen name on full tilt poker is ChurchsChicken. I could not decide on a name and my brother walked in the room and he is the VP of Churchs Chicken so I figured I might as well give him some free advertising.

Biggest poker game you've ever played in live?

Biggest game playing in online?

Any idea of your biggest pot?

Do you think about table selection when you play online?

If PLO8 is your best game, what you are your 2nd and 3rd best poker games?

1. Currently Arizona.
2. I have no idea. I like Las Vegas a lot, but I like my family a lot too and none of them live anywhere close to Las Vegas. I think I would like a house is Las Vegas to go to every once in a while, but overall I want live in the Imperial Valley and do some good for the community if possible.
3. My major was Pure Mathematics.
4. I want to open a business with my dad. If I open my business I will be quitting poker because I will have no time for anything else. If that doesnt work out ill probably teach high school and get my masters in Mathematics.

1) I rarely play live and this is going to sound pathetic, but it would have to be an 8/16 Limit Holdem game I played early on. 200 dollars felt like a lot of money at the time.

2) I played the 10/20 PLO8 games on party quite a bit.

3) The biggest pot was between 5k-6k. I took out two people at the party 10/20, one of them was a short stack so I dont know the exact number.

4) No, I play everyone because I want to play all the tables that I can.

5) PLO8 is my best game, Limit Holdem is number 2. I wish I could say I am good enough at NL holdem to rank it 3, but I suck so bad I dont think I could even rank it.

Party let me change it, so it was the same as on full tilt towards the end. Before that I honestly cant remember. I would look at my poker tracker, but my old comp is dead (needs a new video card). I am on a new system that doesnt have old data. My nephew has my old laptop, later today ill go check it for old data. I might have told someone on the boards I am not sure.

1. Win rate?

2. Do you prefer 6 max or FR tables?

3. Your thoughts on the future of the game? Does it ever overtake PLO in popularity? Does PLO8 have the same effect on FL as NL Hold 'em did or does it fade to NLO8?

4. Do/would you coach?

Do you use a HUD? If so, do you rely on it or notes more?

What software tool do you feel has most helped your game(I.E. PTO, 2dimes)?

I know I have several leaks and we've played <1k hands together, but is there any one that you'd be willing to comment on? That is if you remember or have noticed.

BBQ or hot sauce?

3 betting preflop is pretty popular now at the lower levels, which was not always the case. Its a nice move against opponents that are constantly raising with anything. I guess to put it bluntly its a good move against good players. Most people that are using it at the .50/1 or lower level are just being stupid though. Most PLO8 players at the lowest levels are awful and very honest with their raises. If they raise a big percentage of the time they have aces and sometimes they will just snap cause they suck and 4 bet it with A2. Calling a 4 bet is basically risking a buy in with pretty lousy odds unless you catch a dream flop because you will rarely fold post flop when half your stack is in there. Losing a buy in against bad players when you could get it in better spots is stupid. The point is, 3 betting preflop is a good move, but you gotta know when and where to use it.

Raising out of the small blind always leads to a very tough flop situation. When raising out of the small blind you have to realize this, but most dont and assume its just a normal raise and nothing changes. You should be confident in your post flop skills to do this, if you are not then dont use this move. There is nothing wrong with never raising out of the small blind.

Why did you wait 8 months after the UIEGA? I know it was a very frustrating time for many (myself included). It seems odd that a student with your skill would just blow the whole thing off.

1) I dont have most of my data so I cant give a good answer.

2) I like full ring.

3) I think this game can never be huge, but if PLO ever gets huge this game could replace the limit omaha high low games in casinos across the country. I think that would be the most positive outcome.

4) No, I am still working on my game and I honestly would not feel comfortable charging people for coaching.
