Just lost a big pot at this stage with AA23 and licking my wounds so trying to get in cheap (despite the beautiful starting hand) and catch a piece of the flop and not blast my last hundo.

That's what happened, except I ended up quickly realising my hand may be no good.

Thoughts on all streets welcome

I would play every street different except flop, though I would bet a little more. No point in debating pre since you have your reasons but just reminding you that you let everyone else in cheap as well...

Bet 21000 flop, bet another 50000 turn, and call river. Finding a slowplayed set stinks but I’m not too worried about that.

What do you think they are calling the flop with?

Any 2, any Q, KK, and probably any decent low draw (A3, A4, 43). Maybe even most paired hands.

Seems like a fold as played.

Obviously this is a bad line, and if villains have picked up this type of highly questionable play style they can exploit.. even adjusting for that hero still probably has to fold.

I would play every street differently:
-preflop: raise. You have a really good hand and at that point in the tournament it is "raise or fold".
-flop: Bet more. Closer to 2/3 pot or even pot.
-Turn: bet. You have a set with A kicker and a draw to the second best low. Many of them will chase their low draw. Time to value your hand.
-River: Fold.

I don't think it's so horribly played. I'd rather bet turn certainly, but still, checking has some merit.

I'm not sure I understand betting +20k on the flop, as we want stuff like KK/AQ to peel. Maybe bet like 10k or less? Our stack is so shallow that we don't really need to build the pot. I can the the merits of betting big though, especially if people don't realize our hand will always be A2+ then.

On the turn I felt that if one of these guys had just a 2 they would have bet the flop, so what are they calling with? When they both called flop alarm bells went off. So one has to have Q2 or QQ. I thought it's a multiway hand so they aren't calling with AA or KK and honestly I think it's very optimistic to think that one would only have a backdoor low.

So when they both checked I was actually happy that I got a free shot at a low. Had I made even 2nd nut low I wouldn't fold if there was the same river action because I realise they both have high hands.
