I never had the pleasure of meeting Buzz in the flesh, but I greatly appreciated his opinions and guidance both in the poker forums (especially the handful of times he posted in Live Casino Poker and Home Poker) and in the Mod Forum. You could tell by his measured and calm approach to every situation that he was a good person, a great leader, and a fair administrator (in that order).

Thank you, Buzz.

RIP Buzz, undoubtedly one of the classiest posters in 2p2 history.

Buzz was a great guy. He had been a college professor (I think, chemistry?) and then a dean. He enjoyed helping people and was good at it. When players posted questions here, he tried to give them the best, most rational, and provable advice he could.

I got to play with him several times in L.A. Once he even went so far as to pick me up at the airport and drive me around to different rooms. His poker playing would have surprised some forum posters: It was highly aggressive and highly exploitative; he always knew his numbers and could make some pretty amazing plays.

As others have mentioned, he was a night owl and would always be ready to get a bite and chew the fat during the wee hours. Buzz, I'll miss you.

Very sad news.

9 years ago when I made my first thread in O8, Buzz was one of several to respond. He did so with his usual analytical style. I remember being so thankful that someone had taken the time to respond in such depth, and he must have done this for literally hundreds of people over the years. No exaggeration.

Undoubtedly someone worth emulating.

Thank you for linking to that thread. It was a great read.

I seem to recall that Frank Jerome wrote a six-part series on how to play Omaha 8, published in the 2+2 Magazine. Are those articles still accessible? If not, can a mod make them accessible as part of our collective remembrance of Buzz?

Very sad news. He seemed such a nice man and was a great ambassador for the game he clearly loved and also this forum. He always acted kind and like a true gent even when faced with posters being rude/disrespectful. Plus you wouldn't find a more helpful member in the forum for any sort of Omaha 8 question. He will be missed.

My sincere condolences to his family.

RIP Buzz
