I looked in the stickies but did not find a FAQ thread where I could tell what the discussion was about in the links.

I'm a hold'em player. I've worked my way up to $1/$2. I use pokertracker for hold'em but don't have it for O8. I'm up playing hold'em 1.27 Big Bets / 100 over 48K hands. A small sample but I'm pretty confident I'm at least a break even player if not a small winner. I 2-table $1/$2 6max.

I do have some experience with O8. I've played in the casino. I've read most of Ray Zee's book. I'm 1-tabling $1/$2 6max O8 on full tilt. I estimate I've played about 30 hours in the last month. I'm down just under $200 in that time. I know this because I can add up everything in poker tracker and bonus' and rakeback and compare it to how much I've actually got in my account. Yup, down just under $200.

I find I have the most trouble getting and maintaining a feel for how my opponents play. So I find for the most part I'm just playing my cards waiting for good hands. Not attempting steals all that much. Not raising with descent hands where the Ace is not suited with another card. I only raise if all 4 cards are working HARD - like Ah3hKcJc is probably the bottom of what I'd put in a pfr with.

Should I be playing a different limit?
Should I be playing 6max?
Should I multi-table FL?
Do I need PokerTracker for O8?
What should I be focusing on regarding other players?
$200 in 30 hours seems like a lot to me. What should I expect in terms of variance in O8? I do think I've been massively unlucky but I suspect getting massively unlucky in O8 is normal just like in hold'em. I think I need to raise more and juice pots up where I figure to have a good chance to scoop.

Any advice on my questions and anything else you might throw in would be very much appreciated.

hould I be playing a different limit?

Should I be playing 6max? only if u plan to be more agg, in limit u need to be rasiins alot more if u ever want to be good, u cant get a stack off one hand, so u need to keep pressin the issues, puttinh them to the decison, make more calldowns, if u planning on only callin river with definites hands ur winnin, esp in HU pots, u wont do well, ie a5 low on 268kq with a hi pair is usually good for half, im not saying call dwon everything, but dont be a player to call, than fold a river bet, if u miss ur inital hand, and still have a decent hi and low. if ur on the button, any a4xx hand u should be raisin, imo

Should I multi-table FL? if u want to die, i suggest not- unless u like Limit full ring

Do I need PokerTracker for O8?- some may say yes, i kinda say no, i never use pto for anything playing related, ever

What should I be focusing on regarding other players? see how they play prefp. at them limits im guessin limping everything, so raise ur good hands, rasie half decent hadns a2q9 if u got a high suit, cuase most likley these guys all have such bad hands, its dead money in the pot.

raise any big draw, really any dfraw on flop. straight low, etc, if u can raise the ok draws, where u have scoopin possibilites, than ur no dobut raising the big ones. limit to me is much more swingy cause u need to play more pots, its the nature of the game, limit forces u to become more open, which is prolly why my range is so huge in plo08, since i played limit 08 for bout 15 months eclusively

Thanks for your input. Another question:

What limit does 1/2 compare to in live O8?

In hold'em 1/2 compares to 10/20.

I'm wondering if I'm biting off more than I can chew by playing 1/2 O8. Should I be paying my tuition in a smaller game? Should I be paying my tuition multi-tabling .1/.2 full ring?

Honestly, there are plenty of hellabad players playing 1/2 O8. But there are a few good ones too. It's really hard to identify exploitable tendencies. I think playing 1 table is the way to go until I start recognizing exploitable tendencies. But there's a fine line between bad play and good play - except for starting hands. Bad players start with horrendously bad hands.

It's really hard to notice when you should be raising to knock out low draws. Like raising the second nut low draw so that other second nut lows and may be even nut lows will drop. It takes a GOOD player to fold nut low draw simply because it's a double sized bet to him and the pot odds don't justify a call.

Am I off base here? Is this how I should be thinking about things in order to beat this game?
