Typo: I have AQ972
5-10 spread limit mix. Can bet between 10 and 600 at any point. Mix is Big O, 5 card double board high and 4 card Omaha. Everyone in this game is bad at Big O. Stack sizes range from 1200 to 8000, I cover. 7 handed

Pre: Hero on btn with AdQs9s7s2c
4 limps, hero limps, 7 ways

Should I consider a raise here? Some players are vpip 100%, but I can also get limp raised +600

Flop (70) : 8s4s3s
6 checks hero..

Lots of "it depends" regarding the position raise with a marginal starting hand.

- If you've seen any limp/re-raise "large", then I'm never raising here
- If no limp/re-raises seen, then
-- If I know a standard raise will thin the field, and my opponents overfold post flop, I will raise
-- If I'm just going to build a huge pot and bring a lot of people with me, or even if I thin the field, but they are going to stick around and make my life difficult, I'll limp along and trying and play well post-flop.

Neither option is bad, but you need a plan.

On the flop, when checked to me, I'd make a "standard" bet for the game, which you don't mention. I'd assume pot, or slightly less here. You've got 3rd nuts/nuts in a 7 way pot, so you are going to be way ahead on average. The only time you aren't is running into exactly AsXs2x, which you will find out quick enough with a bet on this flop. Otherwise, you'll 3/4 any other A2, and you might get a few sets to chase the turn.

Overlimp is good given hand flaws and format allowing gigantic raises we can't call.

On flop i like to mix between 30-40% bet and checkback. Goal is to extract value from other a2 hands while pot control vs bigger flushes and bad runouts, since your low can also be counterfeited.
