Finished 2nd in the PL Dealer's Choice w rebuys in London just now. Ditto. As of today, I've moved over to Stars. The FT games just got a little less juicy...

Field was about 40, don't remember exactly...so a bit bigger than I had feared. When I signed up there were only 12. Initial prizepool got tripled after the rebuys.

The games were PLO 4 and 5 cards, PLO8 4 and 5 cards, Stud, Stud8, Irish 3, 4 or 5 cards and Holdem (!!!). All games were pot limit. There was one guy who kept choosing holdem and Irish but he was definitely in a minority. In order from least to most popular I'd say it went roughly Holdem, Irish, Stud, PLO, Stud8, PLO8. ...which turned out pretty perfect for me since that's close to my own preference.

I chose PLO quite often during the early stages and then slowly incorporated more PLO8 as I wanted to have some control of my stack. At the final table I had a pretty huge lead initially and kept choosing PLO to be able to run over the table. That didn't work quite according to plan tho...got it in bad a few times against the shortstacks and had to work my stack back up. Still chose quite a bit of PLO but played slightly more smallball.

All in all, it was a good tournament for a PLO8 specialist since people kept choosing it without seeming to be very good at it. I never won a big PLO8 pot tho - more or less all of my chips came from PLO and Stud8.

If more people had chosen Stud it would just have been another dumb crapshoot. I don't think that game plays well PL at all and was glad people seemed to agree.

I would absolutely recommend you play in it next time. If you are prepared to splash out on a few rebuys to build a healthy stack you'll be in good shape against that field. I'd be glad to discuss strategy with u if you decide to play it next time.
