5-10-20 big O. V in HJ is complete unknown with 4K. BB and str are good regs with around 3K each.

Hero in sb with AA935 with A5dd

Pre: V opens 50, hero bb str call

Flop (200) : 943dd
Hero? Hero checks, check check, HJ 200. Hero? Hero calls, 2 folds

Turn (600) : Qddd
Hero?

I feel like I might have made 3 mistakes in the first 2 streets.

Should note V bought in for max 3K.

I would lead flop, and xr pot as played.

Leading turn for 1/2 pot or more.

You tend to always play the passive way. Are you playing in a game that is too big for you? I don't really care, but understanding why could help you. I think it's a very easy 3-bet pre, so easy that I'd label flatting a mistake. Flop I think both checking and betting are ok, but when checking you are generally trying to c/r the pf-raiser.

Turn I'm fine leading though I wouldn't expect action. I'm fine checking too.

A lot of times when I play aggressively I find myself in bloated pots getting free rolled and folding away tons of equity. For example if he has A25 and the turn is 5-8 that becomes a really bad spot especially oop.

I usually play small ball in all the games and then push equity and or free rolls post. It’s live and there’s often a bigger fish than me.

Maybe you play poorly in 3-bet pots. Maybe you've been unlucky in 3-bet pots. Maybe you've been unlucky when you c/r flop. Maybe you've been unlucky when you correctly rip in a decent hand on the turn and so on.

What I'm trying to say is that playing small ball does bleed EV, if you are doing it with hands that are able to play big ball, no matter if the opposition is mostly weaker than you (as it should).

you are pushing equity on the flop vs major portion of his range, x/r flop
preflop is mandatory 3bet

I get the small Ball thing, but this is the exact hand that you wanna build a huge pot with. A perfect two way hand that has alot of equity and freeroll potential. If the runout doest go your way, then you slow down, not vice versa. 3bet pre 100%, then I'd c/r flop. You play too passive your pots will be too small to entice hands you dominate to chase you... You'll just find yourself against stronger ranges.
