8-16 omaha 3rd low/straight

Loose game. Flop bettor is not good, check raising non nut hands and getting killed in this game.

5 limps and I limp Td8d32 on the button. Flop 6c7s9s EP bets 3 calls and I raise, all 4 call. Turn 8c checked to me I bet all call. River 8s EP now bets again, 2 calls and CO makes it 2 bets is this a call or fold? EP could 3bet with 66 even though that should be no good after CO raise.

Five ways to the river? It's highly unlikely the straight is still good. If I make a crying call, it's because I've convinced myself the highs are dueling boats or, hell, straight flushes are live, too, and there's too much money in the pot and maybe, just maybe neither A2 nor A3 isn't out there.... I expect to lose most of the time, though.

Maybe a call, but very close. If you checked the turn, then it would be an easy fold, so maybe dont bet turn since you are hoping for a river ace and lots of river action?

I honestly don't know here. I think pot is big enough to warrant a call as I feel like you'd have heard from A2 on the turn a lot in this scenario. But this is why I just fold junk like this in loose games.

Re: 8-16 omaha 3rd low/straight

Typically in this game players don't bet or raise the nut low. They have convinced each other that it costs you money when you get quartered, so 3 players could easily have A2 or A3 here. Some players also call 90% preflop, and never raise.

I thought one bet was a crying call, but call two bets cold? If it were the bettor and the raiser easy call, but I worry about the two players in between. I laid it down, certain that my hi was no good and my lo was unlikely best.

Result: raiser wins hi with full house, bettor takes lo with 23, other two muck. Trying to figure out how often this would be the case and wondering if a call is justified for two bets.

As for the trashy starting hand, I don't mind limping multiway on the button with 23. I'm mostly looking for the ace to flop and rarely continuing postflop otherwise. No guarantee with these players that the aces are dead.

Agreed. And here's what "almost never" means: Let's say you find yourself in this situation 100 times. How many times is your straight good for high? Once? Twice? How many times is your 23 good for low? Once? Twice? And of those few times that you're good in one direction or the other, how often are you getting quartered?

Now add up all the money you lose on river calls the 96 to 98 times out of 100 that you're not good in either direction. It's way more than what you win the 2 to 4 times you're good for half or a quarter of the pot.
