Howdy. I'm curious what others use for a preflop 3-betting range in L08... it seems a much more important tool in higher limits where you are trying to isolate and win the button in position, drive out both blinds, or from the sb to squeeze out the bb against a late position raiser. In loose low limit games it seems to just be more for value since no one folds.

Anyway, I guess let's focus for now on a 3-bet range in late position in HJ or later in a medium to high stakes game, facing a single opener. My typical range would be something like most AAxx, A-wheel-wheel-x, A2Kx thru A4Qx maybe pending suits... maybe decent KKxx or QQxx hands? I really don't have much experience with it because it's simply not necessary or helpful in the lower games I've played in the past. Thanks!

I like 3betting the 2-way hands you mention, but KK and QQ hands are one way hands that you pull people in with.

In the scenario you describe, you're trying to isolate against one opponent in position. The hands I would do that with are good AA hands, preferably those with two-way potential, something like (A4)AJ or (AK)(A6); an A2 or A3 with a big pocket pair, like A2QQ or AK(K3); and what Steve Badger refers to as five-card hands, which consist of an Ace, a wheel card, a backup low card (no matter how high), and a Broadway card—not just a premium like (A2)(K4), but also hands as weak as (A46)J or A5(Q7).

Hands with big pairs can win unimproved heads-up. And five-card hands can make both some kind of high and some kind of low when an Ace hits the board, which is definitely an advantage heads-up. (For more on five-card hands, see http://www.stevebadger.com/poker/omaha/secret/.)

Possibly like if you have (KJ)(KQ) or something similar and are facing a raise from EP

But hands such as KK35 really benefit from being aggressive and making it a HU pot

What about 3-betting and flatting ranges when we are in late position on an overall weak table vs. a LAG (but accomplished/good player) opener directly to our right..
