PKO on the bubble: What a punt ... PKO on the bubble: What a punt ...

This hand was played with 29 players left, 27 places get paid.

I was under the impression that villain had played every single hand on the bubble, but I was mistaken about that. He actually played 75/18.

I basically god moded this tournament and I'm winning money even if I bust on the bubble. I have a $25 bounty on me.

I figured my line looks pretty strong (I probably play Aces the same way in this situation and vs this specific opponent), but villain probably doesn't give a **** and I'm literally lighting money on fire by doing what I did, right?

I guess I should have opened or folded before the flop, but once I elect to call, calling villain's raise is my only play?

    Yatahay Network - 4000/8000 PL (6 max) - Omaha Hi/Lo - 6 players
Hand converted by Holdem Manager 3

    UTG: 473,432 (59.2 bb)
    MP: 283,039 (35.4 bb)
    Hero (CO): 137,836 (17.2 bb)
    BTN: 124,126 (15.5 bb)
    SB: 323,226 (40.4 bb)
    BB: 294,441 (36.8 bb)

6 players post ante of 400, SB posts 4,000, BB posts 8,000

    Pre Flop: (pot: 14,400) Hero has J 3 A T
2 folds, Hero calls 8,000, fold, SB calls 4,000, BB raises to 20,000, Hero raises to 70,400, fold, BB raises to 120,800, Hero raises to 137,436 and is all-in, BB calls 16,636

    Flop: (285,272, 2 players) Q 6 5

    Turn: (285,272, 2 players) 9

    River: (285,272, 2 players) T

    Results: 285,272 pot (0 rake)
    Final Board: Q 6 5 9 T

    Hero shows J 3 A T: (One Pair, Tens)
    (Pre 50%, Flop 48%, Turn 51%)

    BB shows J J 5 8: (Straight, Queen High)
    (Pre 50%, Flop 52%, Turn 49%)

    BB wins 285,272

As you can see from the results, villain had a 50bb stack with 28 players left and he busted in 24th place. I would bet a lot of money that he didn't lose his stack in a huge cooler situation. Villain might have just punted vs me if I had waited for some good post-flop situations. I guess this makes my punt even worse?

Definitely no limping in this spot. Just fold if you don't want to gamble. Limp-rr worst possible way to play it.

I don't know how to play PKOs but with an ante and 17 bb I like the limp ok, agree that LRR was quite bad

Actually thought it was NL like these tournaments are on Stars, in which case the issue is that you need to fold almost your whole range when shoved on. PL yeah I guess you can limp whole or some of your VPIP-range. In general I think you should play very tight in this spot and I probably prefer folding to limp-calling (don't think limp-folding makes any sense vs a maniac).

I guess I basically just flipped.

Villain is a maniac who has me covered, I probably have the biggest bounty in the whole field on me and I somehow expect to have fold equity in a game where large pre-flop edges are basically non-existent lol. I mean, his hand is basically trash and he still has 41% vs Ah 3h Ks 2s ...

I had checked the lobby with 35 players left and somehow lost track of how close we were to the bubble. I basically lost this lol hand and the tournament was in the money within a minute after that ...

As for limping, I think it works quite well in these spots if you have a good idea that you won't get raised a lot which, generally speaking, was the case on this table. But yeah, I agree that I should just fold in this spot ...
