There was 1320 in the pot before their bet/steal. Because of their stack size, they were only risking about a third of their stack, while you were risking all of yours to call.
You have a good mixed hand which would have been better if A was suited.
As it turned out you had 54% equity pre-flop.
You could have been against AA23ds and you would have had 26% equity.
You could have been against A35Kds and you would have had 40% equity.
Since you had less than 5% of your stack in BB/ante, I would have folded, because I like to cash and then improve my stack.
If the small blind had the small stack (2495) and shoved, I would have definitely called.
