Dealt A45QKssss

6-max. Villain raises pre to 6 from HJ, I call on button, everyone else folds, it's HU. We're about 150bb's deep. Villain is really laggy.

Flop Ts 8s 6h.

Villain pots, I call.

turn 5c. Villain pots.

Kinda hate I have 4 of my own suits and I'm blocking the two cards I'd want villain to have on the river. Obviously a 2s/3s is perfect on the river but even then I'm not sure I get paid off.

Basically just not sure it's worth it to eat a PSB here given the mitigating factors and that I'm not sure I make enough back on scoop cards (or we possibly just chop when I hit flush anyway)

Thoughts? Thanks

You have 4 Spades correct? Definite fold. blocking too much of your own equity for high, not drawing to nut low...

Against just a random top 20% hand you have about 30% equity here.
A2xxx is 75% equity vs your hand.
A2T is about 79% vs. your hand.

Kinda missed villain is super laggy... either way. Wait till you have half locked or a more confident one way hand at least to have more play-ability.. Drawing pretty slim both ways in this hand..

pick a street and fold... I think fold pre, flop, or turn are all good.

Folding this preflop on the button to a really laggy HJ open is bananas.

Agreed.

OP (if you're still reading... kind of a necrothread), what is your flop call trying to accomplish? Hit your gutshot and hope to also win low? Get a cheap showdown and scoop air? Naked float to take the pot away on a later street?

Actually the [almost-]naked float is probably OK here if you have a coherent plan to win the pot without showdown. Otherwise, you're fighting for a $12 to 15 pot, or most often half of it, with $290+ in your stack and a mediocre to pretty bad hand both ways.

Just because a lag opened doesn't mean hero has to play this hand from the btn. Blinds can still raise it up.

That being said call flop, fold turn looks fine, even though we could maybe make an argument to fold the flop.
