Hi Guys, new to Hilo but read up quite abit and have probably at least 10k hands on it.

BU is a fish player that would chase either hi or lo draws but with that said with this amount of money and so many players i doubt he is bluffing.

Is my play fine or am i playing overly aggressive with this kind of stack size

Looks well played to me. If he's shown a propensity for check raising like that, I think checking behind on the turn is also a good option.

It helps disguise your hand and gives you the ability to just call a bet from him on brick rivers.

Well played though am fine with turn check too. Could also size flop bet a little smaller as your hand doesn’t really need much protection.

Ah! you mean like vs thinking TAGs that will bet when they air balled or detect weakness on the river?

Hand is very aggressively played on all streets...

Preflop you have no low counterfeit protection, and four to a suit. I'd be more likely to limp than raise.

Flop bet is fine, though if someone repots and gets multiway action I'd fold...probably against a set/wrap/nut low somewhere in there if they are competent players.

The way played, I'd check the turn...don't want to really commit entire stack here even though you have a ton of outs (although some may be to get quartered.), and have a small chance of being ahead here.

You can play this way...but your variance is going to go way up...and if you're playing with a table of nits, you'll be a net long term loser.

Especially the turn is a huge mistake. You are forcing the weaker hands out and stronger hands in.

Only time the turn bet is OK is if you're opponents are willing to fold underfull houses, or chase the low with no high potential.

I’m not loving his preflop very much either. I think OP is way better off just limping along and trying to catch boards like this before investing money.

Agree turn is overplayed. We do have a pretty decent high and obv the nut low draw, but bombing here allows them to play perfect (they’ll get it in when we’re losing high and fold out when we have them pretty dead, like A hi clubs with some sort of A24 going on for low).

I like how you played it.

J or 10 are the only cards on river that hurt you. Lots of scoop potentials.

What card hit the river?

Or a six or three. Maybe you're trips/topkicker is good...maybe you get scooped.

A 2 could be deadly...if opponent is competent, you either are getting scooped or your money back...very little chance of scooping.

A 4,5 or 7...could make someone a straight/nut low and you're getting quartered.

Remaining Queen, three nines are all nut scoop outs. King probably is too, though sometimes you'll chop. Ace you'll often chop, as it makes a low.

You’re correct.

You better have the goods with Big O.

I prefer 4-card Omaha really.

My old home game (social, no rake) we played 5,6,7,8 card Omaha variants hilo...with different low (6 or 7 low sometimes)...it was a fairly big game (5/10, 500 buyin), and NL after the flop, PL preflop...this was instituted after one mule decided to throw in a 500 chip constantly preflop into a 50 pot. We played 2-5 times a week in the afternoon- participants were all self-employed!

I quit the game when we wouldn't play Badugi/Badacey limit...I recall having second/second and getting scooped for massive pots when opponent hit a one out draw - not fun when it's a four figure pot.

You learn quickly what danger hands are, and how easy it is to get scooped by quads with top full, or get an eighth with nut low!

8-card Omaha?

Well, you can only play that five handed.

Seems sort of ridiculous to me.

It was...but when you're playing everyday you get bored!

We played lots of other weird draw/stud/common card games as well...fyi, game started off as a limit home game and then, as virtually every home game did in early aughts, moved to big bet.

We did have a rule against wild card games though
