Predicting the Future was spot on in some ways, but #2 & 3 were way off, I'm afraid. I'm sure Mason got a good laugh out of it too.

I'd estimate it was published in the second half of 2004 based on this comment, among others.

Mason's commnets about books sales in the article indicate the increase in sales is something that had been going on for a while. So, it's not June of 2003 which would be immediately after Chris Moneymaker's WSOP win (and before it aired on ESPN).

By June of 2005, 1-2 no-limit hold 'em had started gaining popularity in Las Vegas casinos. In 2004, there were some sporadic games, but limit hold 'em was still totally dominant.
