The article said that the Venetian was "removing poker boxes from the cashier". What does this mean?

It's basically a safe deposit box, like at a bank.

Regular Venetian players used to be able to rent a security box in which they could keep money/chips in. Having one made it unnecessary to transport money to and from the casino each time they played.

were they charging a fee for this? if not, that's ludicrious to do that for poker players. maybe big big time table games players i would understand.. other considerations? dirty money and/or laundering?

doesn't directly relate to this thread but what is the rake for nose bleed poker - or very high recreational - in vegas? is it similar to online where it doesn't scale much? this might be unpopular view but if restaurant tips or table game edges scale, why shouldn't poker rake? doesn't have to scale 1:1 or anything.. i apologize if my understanding of rake is poor.

it doesnt scale because they are providing the same service and there is competition between casinos, thinner edges, etc

restaurant tips scale even though they're providing the same service..... my wine doesn't know if it's a $20 bottle or a $200 bottle. same with my entree.....

maybe the better question is why restaurant tips scale so much. maybe they shouldn't.
