Despite being a very inexperienced razz player, I also very much enjoyed reading this tournament adventure.

One of the nicest reads on poker I've ever had. I don't play Razz, but this lovely tale turned me from a Stud8 table to Razz.
I'm playing Razz at this moment and enjoying it, actually.

Thank you for the great article, listening!

This was indeed a great read. FWIW, I think you were severely overestimating the level of skill that would be possessed by that field, but I'm glad to hear that you did well and had fun. Thanks for taking the time to write.

+1

Very well written, dramatic, and gave a lot of insight into the lure of poker for the microstaker and also into the very underrated game of razz. WTG listening

I had not gotten into reading the articles of the magazine, but have just been hanging out here on the forum, however due to Matt's post, I checked out the article and really liked it.

Hi,

Great stuff listening. Your post captures the spirit of being a micro player beautifully. All those endless internal choices between playing for 'experience' and 'good bankroll management'. It makes me happy to see that you were able to combine both. Good luck in the future.

cheers Fg7

The article was one of the most readable offerings in the magazine in quite some time. You really humanized the degree to which many players have a real attachment to money and illustrated that many people who approach this as a hobby are actually quite risk averse.

You also highlighted the degree to which the talent gap is actually quite narrow between top players and those who play the game solely as a sideline but who strive to play correctly.

Yours was a wonderful portrait of poker and poker players. The narrative on the hands was very well done. The article was an outstanding addition to the body of non-strategy oriented poker literature.

I loved the article, it may be worth trimming it down, taking out a bit of the hand stuff and get it published in a mainstream mag/paper.

I saw the first few posts in this thread, but I didn't know all of the rest of this was here until last night and I couldn't help coming "down from the attic" long enough to thank you all for the great things you said. I'm gratified, amazed and really happy people liked it. Dynasty told me to make it as long as I needed to say what I had to say. All I really wanted to say was:

My dad, no longer with us, played pretty good duffer golf. Tiger Woods doesn't love golf more than my Dad did. You know what I mean?

Still grinding out 4.6 BB an hour at micro Razz. Be reading you all in the new forum. Back to the attic...thanks again.

Dude, you probably don't realise it, but you've just paid a wonderful tribute to your dad. And reminded us that it's a game, which will, I hope, stop me tilting next time some motherfunker....
