This article kind of opened my eyes to something I've had thoughts about. I have noticed that with time I get more and more exposed to the world. I've always wondered why there were so many people at the casino to play live lhe as opposed to nlhe. I guess I never had enough interest to look it up; have only been around the poker world for a couple years. What do you think about the article, lhe, transitioning to lhe non exclusively. What is the variance like in comparison? I've seen lhe hand charts and they looked really similar to nlhe hand charts if I remember correctly.

It might be a troll as lhe runs only at stars and usa and people dropped out of it years ago and plo and nlh are the games this decade. Add the rake problem and small edges. Mixed games has too many limit stud games.

Hi tmacTheorySSAnne:

The right question to ask is not what the variance is but how the expectation for the expert relates to his standard deviation in the short run, and in limit hold 'em this relationship is fine. However, in no-limit hold 'em cash games, against weak players, this relationship is out of balance in favor of the expectation being too high, thus the games in the long run can choke off.

The fact that starting hand charts might look similar between no-limit and limit hold 'em games is not the issue. Put another way, proper strategy and the effect of proper strategy are two different issues.

Best wishes,
Mason

Hi 6471849653:

First, I'm not a troll and are quite aware to the fact that no-limit hold 'em cash games are currently the dominate game. I also agree that the rake is too high in many limit hold 'em games, but disagree that small edges are a problem. As for stud, seven-card stud is probably a much better game than you realize, but I also agree that razz and stud eight-or-better are not the best games due to their required strategies being too simple.

Best wishes,
Mason

Las Vegas Food could be a separate forum. Gobbo should be the host.
