Anyone ever get bored of poker? Anyone ever get bored of poker?

Yeah Im with all of you. I used to be able to grind day after day after day for 10+hours. Regging tournaments from noon till sometimes after midnight. I hit a wall as I got closer to my 30's. It simply wasn't as much fun as it used to be. I'd start a session and a few hours in I didn't want to be sitting there playing poker anymore. Live or online. It started getting depressing. Its ****ing tough. I don't nearly put in the volume I used to. For me I started drinking some decent beers while grinding which does take the bordem out of it. Try not to get too crazy but having a few good craft beers really helps to level you out and makes poker way more tolerable. Over all, you sometimes gotta take a step back and start to care about the things that mean the most to you. If poker isn't that don't play as much but rather when you do play, play your A game for shorter sessions instead of a bunch of long C- sessions.

Poker is a very boring game.

If you want to have more fun play more hands and gamble.

If you want to treat it like a job and make money it will always be boring.

Advice:
Try and substitute your boredome with thinking. What does each opponents fast river check mean. What does each opponents pot size turn bets represent based upon some hands you've seen shown down. What if the board pairs and my opponents re-raise the river? How is everyone playing at the table post flop out of position against me? Who is making moves and playing straight forward? Is anyone on a rush of cards right now turning over back to back monsters? What physical tells can I pick up on? When the dealer is dealing the cards is there anyway I can catch a glimpse of the cards? Eventually boredom will lead to burnout, then you will be really done unless you got some love for this game.

Never had that problem. By only playing once or twice a week, it's a big event and much looked forward to ... still. Even decades in, it's always been the highlight of the week. And that perhaps is a key ingredient in success. I bring huge energy to the table every time.

I also do get bored in a competition as well at such point in time what we need is nothing but take a break and refresh our self including our memory then returning back to the competition can help improved our performance this do happen to everybody and not just one person.

Having fun should be part of the equation. It's good for the motivation in playing poker.

Yes. When I played almost everyday for 18 months I did find it pretty boring some days. Winning def helps.

Its good to have other things going on to keep your mind sharp and not drained on one thing. Working out is def a must. And just getting outside and enjoying other things is necessary!

This actually happened to me, and playing poker when you are not motivated to grind and build is pointless. I would recommend a break from poker period. I took a break for a few months from live or online poker, and now I got that feeling when I first got into poker, the motivation to get better and grind to make something of this.

I think it's different for every person. Someone might do a job that most people wouldn't, because it's all about the Benjamins. Someone else decides to be a social worker, which requires a masters and doesn't pay a lot, because she cares so much about helping others.

Poker players are no different. They make their job decisions for all sorts of reasons. More than a few poker players dropped out of college or quit a "regular job" because they were making more playing poker on the side.

A few years ago I read a post from a single mother. She made her living playing online while her kids were in school. It was her dream job, not because it made her rich or because she loved poker (either of those could have been true but neither was mentioned in her post) but because she could could choose her own hours, make a decent living and be there for kids whenever she was needed.

I get bored sometimes playing for 10 hours a day, but as it is my job I just keep the grind going and realize I enjoy this game way more then working any other job I could think of. Just be sure to take some breaks and give yourself some time off, maybe mix in playing other games you just enjoy for fun. I'd recommend trying hearthstone! It's fun and addicting

Seriously, take a break! Give yourself time to switch off fro poker completely. You'll come back feeling extra fresh and motivated. Playing day in day out really does grind you down eventually

I watched my daughter laugh, I fed her, she depends on me. I got to see my wife, I ate healthy food, and generally speaking do these things each day. poker is only going to be as good as your life around you. focus on good things first and then poker second, your passion for it will follow, it's what still works for me. happiness outside of poker will equate to happiness during poker. challenging yourself outside of poker equates to challenging yourself during poker. breaks can help as others have mentioned to, in fact my optimism now pry stems partly from the fact I have not been playing all that much lately. poker to me usually gets boring when it's live, that **** is sloooow.

u don't have to play poker either, there are way funner things. for me, it's a profession, I have to keep it fresh. focus on the good things first (health, relationships, our world). get those in order, your poker will follow, the desire to play will follow, your win rate will go up, I promise
I have no words :O
