Zuckerberg Says He's Not Running For President (he totally is tho) Zuckerberg Says He's Not Running For President (he totally is tho)

I think I've called myself an atheist once IRL - at a party two weeks ago with two guys I knew pretty well. Immediately shut down the conversation. Probably the last time I'll ever bring it up.

But yeah - it takes courage to be Christian in America.

Suzzer, it depends on the circles you run in.

In some circles, stating you're an atheist is a badge of honor and instantly get you an in.

In others, you get shunned like a leper.

p.p.s.

You just made a longish post Hank Reardenizing him for copying Friendster and Myspace at a point when hi-speed internet access was becoming a common utility. I used Friendster on a dial-up modem. It was slow! If we're going all in we should get Bosack and Lerner as P and VP. I'd trust CiscoSys to make the trains run on time.

p.p.p.s. "Hank Rearden" is a "fictional" "character" in a "book". I know those were frowned upon when you were getting your STEM degree.

Maybe I need to find the atheist circles. Then again proud declared atheists are usually pretty annoying.

I had an epiphany the other day that I at least need to find the scientist circles and join my tribe. One of the guys in this men's group thing I go to posted something about a 256-year-old man's secret to longevity, then another one gave me a bunch of resources about UFO coverups.

They're perfectly nice people, and I enjoy spending time with them. But they believe in magic. I need to be around people who at least have a clue how real science works - at least some of the time. I love real scientists - they're usually wonderful people to hang out with.

6ix, you seem angry, unhinged, and prone to personal attack when all I did was ask a question. Are you going to challenge me to a culture/Lit quiz off next?

You just need to keep to people who aren't inclined to share with you their religious beliefs regardless of what they are.

Just find a group that you can drink some Nebbiolo while munching on Castelvetrano olives and prosciutto with.

On the contrary I'm trying to have semifun in a quasijoke thread. I would say that should be totally obvious but you think people think The Zuck tortures Old Media editors.

You asked a question and I answered, with a follow-up question, which you didn't answer. Then said I was unhinged while also saying I'm prone to personal attacks. This is why your Math ACT score did the heavy lifting.

Define 'real'. Also 'is'. And 'wow'.

Spoiler:
The correct answer is obviously 'it depends'.

Zuckerberg killed Seth Davis. RIP ManCar Alpha.

Edit: Could also have been Sammy Davis and Facebook is racist.

I appreciate his strategy. Dunno if it will catch on to have an effect before 2018, which is my hope no matter what Zuck's goals are.

This is just your opinion right? There is actually nothing to back this up right? Maybe something like Zuckerberg doesn't listen to what voters want and doesn't care. I think dismissing Zuckerberg out of hand is silly actually. Let's see how he holds up going through the process is my take IE have an open mind.

Suzzer, aren't you in Southern California? You have a problem finding atheist circles? I would guess that most bars or city rec leagues or other random public groups are predominantly filled with people who are either mainly atheist or culturally religious but not religiously religious.

You may have just latched on to a weird men's group. If you try out some other groups, you should eventually find some people you prefer to hang out with.

You could join some sort of Democratic group, but then again, you might just get triggered even more than reading this forum!

The ratio of others:some is probably about 25:1.

People literally flip out on the spot. Not just deeply religious people, but otherwise decent ones who identify as Catholic, Christian, etc. It's like you spit in their face.

Joining a 'men's circle' and then complaining about how some of them hold socially awkward views seems self-defeating.

Actually, it's not self-defeating, but I just don't know the proper term to use in place of "duh - what'd you expect?".
08-06-2017 , 05:21 PM
I don't even know what a men's circle is or what it's purpose is, but I'd bet its meetings aren't as good for you as a few beers and laughs.

Even if he were to run, there's basically zero chance he gets elected. People aren't going to vote for an arrogant billionaire who is 10+ years younger than them and oozes condescension.

Wonder what percentage of the age 80+ vote Trump pulled in 2016

Did you just discount all the blood/sweat/tears that went into FB between concept and now? That's the bigger part.

Trump's org is way more phony, but that's a different discussion.

Probably a very large percentage, but I don't think anyone has ever accused Trump of being condescending. In fact, he's very much the opposite.
08-06-2017 , 09:55 PM
And just to clarify before people take issue with that last statement: Trump is nasty, crude, and vulgar, for sure. But he also never makes his supporters feel inferior (intellectually or otherwise). Quite the opposite, in fact - he empowers them with fake populism. Zuckerberg could never pull that off.
