Kander is great but couldn’t even beat roy blunts sleazy ass despite running close to the perfect campaign which is why I think any dems who think Claire will hold her seat over Hawley are pretty delusional . Yeah she is incumbent but this state is gone she got lucky with Akins dumb ass. I’m obviously biased but I see Kander Hawley and (absolute barf) Greitens being around for a long time in national politics as young ambitious and credentialed white men . The latter will duke it out at some point . Greitens just disgusts me but his Navy Seal / Rhodes scholar background while being a massive attention whore is going to resonate bigly with the deplorables

I like him but going from Sec State of Missouri to POTUS seems like a big jump.

I'd like to see a Ted Lieu run....maybe Al Franken or Joe Kennedy.

It makes a lot of sense for him, given his age and how he's currently positioned. Guys like Cruz and Rubio are more likely to think their best shot at the White House is to wait for a clean cycle.

He's a really intriguing VP candidate, though, if a highly qualified establishment Dem wins. I think the party would love to elevate him to national prominence because it's obviously tough for Dems to win statewide in Missouri and he has a lot of potential.

That said, McCaskill has won 4 of her 5 statewide races in Missouri, with the only loss being for governor...

I'm huge on Franken.

I saw your post and thought "Lieu sounds like a great idea", so I texted my buddy about it and he promptly informed me that Lieu was born in Taiwan. Oh well.

Based on recent interviews it sure looks like Biden is gearing up for a run.

Guess we're due for a POTUS to die in office. If it isn't Trump, Biden would be 82 by the end of his term if he was next assuming he'd make it.

jimmy carter can never die

I'd take Biden in literal survivor over Trump and lay significant odds

Grunching. Hopefully nobody we've ever heard of. Best chance of them being excellent.

No question. I fully expect at least one health scare to occur to Trump in the next 3 years.
11-15-2017 , 02:58 PM
I’m not sure "scare" is the right word when we're dealing with the most inept and corrupt president any of us has ever seen.

Figured something like that was coming from Al.

We can probably go with Warren in 2020. It'd be hard to bring her down for sexual harassment. Even if she did do something 30-40 years ago, this would happen:

Al gore maybe?

its actually too early to put any pieces together. check back in june/july 2019 when the field starts to form. if joe biden announces he will thin the field.

I like Joe but he seems like a guy who regrets that he missed his window and so is desperately trying one last shot. He missed his chance and is just too old. Sanders is also too old, too white. Unless the economy tanks they will lose to Trump.

The Alabama senate race showed how crucial the black vote is. Cory Booker is the clear choice. Young, handsome, great speaker, charismatic... not Obama perhaps, but the closest we're gonna get in 2020.

Kamala Harris is a very good option also, but I don't think she has the charisma of Booker. Booker/Harris 2020!
01-03-2018 , 03:23 PM
Booker isn’t pure enough. He once tried to help his state by supporting big pharma, a sin that can never be forgiven. Best to just stay home and let trump destroy the world if Booker is the alternative.

Black vote matters much less for presidential election. Most states with heavy black population are super red as all the white majority goes R, so even heavy black turnout won't turn them. Really its more important to get low- and middle-income voters in swing states who feel marginalized; these people are mostly white. I suppose you could extrapolate Alabama senate race as an example as the power of the black vote, but that had just as much to do with Moore being such a terrible candidate that middling repubs stayed home.

Booker is an even worse corporatist than Obama, and doesn't have the incredible Obama charisma to overcome such an image and connect with regular folk.

That said, I think Booker, Harris, Biden, or Sanders all beat Trump fairly easily. Really anyone except Hilary will. I'm not sure what will happen once the D primary starts. I know in these spots there are media-supported favorites that can burn out real quickly once they don't connect with voters. I kinda feel like Biden will be like this, even though he has solid favorables now he's never really been in the spotlight and I think his more-of-the-same neolib tendencies will be a turnoff on center stage.
