Who will run against Trump in 2020? Who will run against Trump in 2020?

Elizabeth Warren the favorite? OHWOW.JPG

I also feel like all the people talking about Booker being some amazingly charismatic eloquent speaker have never actually bothered listening to him speak.

Michelle Obama is the obvious choice but she probably won't want to run.

Agreed. He's a lightweight.

This has absolutely nothing to do with anything but he's actually done a really good job as owner. No one gave in Charlotte gave a **** about that team until he bought it and started turning things around. Sure they aren't competing for ringz but an owner's primary mission is to build excitement to put people in the seats and get them tuning in on tv. He paid $275 million for the team in 2010. It's worth $780 million now.

And he'd be an absolutely awful president because he may be even more spiteful than Trump, if that's possible.

I mean, I guess if you live there and ppl care about the team then that is cool. but the bobcats/hornets have been pretty terrible over many years. even recently, then made the playoffs 2 out of 4 years in the horrible east and lost in the first round both times.

and every single nba team has increased that much in value the last 7 years.

I don't think Trump will win the Republican nomination. Most likely he will be talked out of it. Not sure he even lasts 4 years.

Kasich

Michelle Obama winning the presidency would be amazing. White male whining could be used to generate electricity.

You guys live in one hell of a bubble if you think warren would win, let alone be a good president.

As to the question, I hope Kasich. I voted for him last March and last November.

If you ask vox, they seem big on Nicki Haley

well its literally impossible to live in a bubble if you are a kasich fan, what with his 15 supporters

I'm starting to worry that the Republicans are going to over-primary him and let him skate through with 35% of their primary vote again as they chop up the rest of it between multiple candidates. I'm seeing Facebook talk of Kasich, Romney, Ryan and Cruz all running.

I'd be SHOCKED if Ryan or Cruz do it. There's just no way it's in their own personal best interest.

One interesting part of the equation is that Trump is going to have one hell of a hard time putting together experienced/decent campaign staff, or getting decent advice on whether to treat any challenge as a serious one or not in the early primary states. Kellyanne Conway is the only political campaign operative he has left that he hasn't burned bridges with, right? Joe Hagin, a DCoS, has some political campaign experience.

Trump is focusing on his 30-35% core because his advisors are likely telling him (IMO, correctly) that the 2020 election, and perhaps all elections going forward, will be about winning a plurality of votes, not even close to a majority. Having seen what happened in 2020, more people likely will just say ^(#% it and run as an independent and just forget primaries entirely. With enough of those in the field, his 30-35% could be plenty to win.

Perhaps, but it's unlikely he would win the presidency with 30-35%, unless specifically there are two liberal candidates in the general and no viable conservative candidate. Keep in mind that if nobody gets to 270 electoral votes it goes to the House, where each state delegation gets one vote and the top three electoral vote getters are the only options.

A strong third party from the left AND a third party from the right is also a winner for Trump. The left/liberal/triangulator fight has to stay in the Dem primaries.

This was kind of my point. If too many people try to step up and prevent his path, they could actually cement it.

Some people think Pence will try to primary Trump in 2020. The funny thing would be if Trump tries to primary President Pence in 2020 after President Pence's pardon protecting Trump from indictment for the criminal activities that got him impeached. If Trump were impeached and pardoned would anything prohibit his running for President again?
