It's revolting, but I'm sure you are correct that being a woman cost HRC a few percentage points.
If HRC lost because she was a woman and not because of her policies, then there is even less reason to believe that a progressive candidate would outperform a conventional candidate in the next general election.
By the way, I'm not saying that it's impossible for a progressive candidate to win in 2020. 2020 is a rare chance for someone like Bernie to win, even if I think he would be drawing much thinner than a more conventional candidate.
