Plus if Booker runs it would be fun to see all the news stories about all the people, dogs, etc. he has saved from certain death. He's a superhero!

IMO corporate interests mostly* donate to likely winners and, in closer races, to both sides, in order to maintain access to political power. This will remain so as long as the broad platform of each party is favourable enough to those interests. It may only be window-dressing (or, conceivably, lemonade-making), but refusing corporate money at least signals some intent to remain independent of them.

And I personally don't think it's a good thing if the Dem platform will benefit corporations, so ipso fatso and all that.

*you do get some crusaders, like Adelson(?) bankrolling Frothy well after he was a political nonentity.

We need new candidates with ideas in the mainstream. We put up a leftist with only leftist policies we lose to Trump. Thats just unacceptable.

If the Bernie bros had held their nose and got behind Hillary we wouldnt have Trump. Surely thats a better outcome we can agree on?

His issue is that he never married. Whats wrong with him that with his impressive resume and looks to be a good person that he cant find love? If he's gay, come out.

Looks to me like he was too busy.

The complaint about Sanders => Trump voters is just complaining about the weather:

Quote:
For example, Schaffner tells NPR that around 12 percent of Republican primary voters (including 34 percent of Ohio Gov. John Kasich voters and 11 percent of Florida Sen. Marco Rubio voters) ended up voting for Clinton. And according to one 2008 study, around 25 percent of Clinton primary voters in that election ended up voting for Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., in the general. (In addition, the data showed 13 percent of McCain primary voters ended up voting for Obama, and 9 percent of Obama voters ended up voting for McCain — perhaps signaling something that swayed voters between primaries and the general election, or some amount of error in the data, or both.)
The centrists have run out of stuff to threaten the left with. They got their way and they lost anyway. The thing they said would happen if they didn't get their way happened anyway. Crying about Russia and primary=>general defections entirely consistent with previous elections is just a refusal to face the fact that their platform lost, and lost to Donald ****ing Trump. If the centrists getting their way doesn't guarantee the right is kept out, then it's not at all important that the centrists get their way.

And it's not just the POTUSbowl. The centrists have been getting their way downticket, too, and they've been losing downticket (the current swing notwithstanding, especially considering the relatively high number of markedly left candidates that have won some of those races). Centrism, it turns out, is not the universally sensible, practical, sure-fire winner we've been told.

So sure, let's not run Leon Trotsky. But the left is - or at least, IMO should be - done moving to the centre. The centre is going to have to move left.

Haven't looked at the study, but I suspect the general phenomenon might be at least partially explained by tactical voting in open primaries.

It says the voters are ****ing ******ed as well. But if you win by running a moron then, well, YOU STILL HAVE A MORON AS PRESIDENT.

Note, I am not calling Winfrey a moron in this post. That is not my point. My point is she is a ****ing talk show host and has no business being president. Give me a ****ing break.

All the Democratic leadership in Washington are so old. We need new blood in leadership. Sanders/Biden/Warren all need to hang up their presidential aspirations and let someone else younger run.

You also don't need a candidate incapable of appealing to people who didn't like HRC.

For obvious reasons, politicians seem to practically live forever. Given the rise in life expectancy across the board, a 70+ year old running shouldn't be a deterrent.

Hyperbole: I would use hyperbole and say Elizabeth Warren is only like 35 yrs old in Native American years and that would be wicked funny, but I won't say that because hyperbole is only hyperbole for leftist, anyone else using hyperbole is labeled a racist by leftist because that's the only way leftist know how to debate a reasoned left of center Centrist like myself.
