Who will run against Trump in 2020? Who will run against Trump in 2020?

Be less obvious

As a conservative, I say Bernie Sanders is a stone lock to win 2020 because Republicans have lost touch with the common man and fixate on petty cultural grievance while doing the bidding of the superrich. Don the Con doesn't stand a chance. 2020 will be a bigger golden shower than he ever saw in Russia. I am very sincerely a Republican voter, MAGA, for real, bigly.

Thinking that Oprah can become POTUS based on a speech she gave at a Hollywood circle jerk to an audience of her friends is laughable. You really think any of them are going to do anything other than applause and cheer her on?

Trump is degrading the office of the Presidency so severely that everybody thinks they can be POTUS.

Might be slightly different now that we’ve seen what a horribly unqualified president looks like in action. I guess I don’t particularly have anything against Oprah, but I really feel like she (or anyone) has to put in at least four years of *something* related to governing before she would get my vote (in the primaries).

Love the double standard. Libs need to run someone without the slightest hint of ever having jaywalked, who has never misspoken and never changed their mind on an issue.

Conservatives, meanwhile, can run and win with Donald ****ing Trump.
Not a double standard IMO.

Just the difference in the campaigns.

Right = How can you vote someone so corrupt and evil OMG end of world, socialism, bring back MacArthur bomb Korea lalalalalalalalalal GRRRRRRRRR

Left = We are not evil vote for me, we love everyone. Free stuff we don't really know how to pay for but will figure it out....

Clinton would have gotten more swing votes and maybe even a few Reds unsure about trump by running around the country threatening to Suplex Trump then give him a Stone Cold stunner if he don't stop runnin his mouth

A constant theme of politics for as long as I've been following it is Dems telling themselves they need to be more like Republicans in order to win. Did the Republicans elect a TV celebrity president with zero experience? Walp, we need to start thinking about what celebs we can field, maybe Oprah isn't too busy.

Overweight Oprah.

In case anyone was wondering, the answer no, his own weight won't stop him from using this nor will it stop it from being effective.

Yes I know people hate trump (outsider) but they might hate Congress (insiders) even more.
That's probably another thread.

You could run (either party) the greatest human being with the intentions to bring earth to Star Trek like Utopia. And it wouldn't matter because we would still have ****ty congress, ****ty courts, Corrupt lobbyists etc.

I honestly think the best we can ever hope for in this deadlocked mess is someone who does not blow up the planet, and makes sure kids can still read in 50 years

Don’t forget how many Dems were furiously masturbating over the thought of president Michelle Obama, for nothing other than her giving one good speech.

The Democratic Party believes in the government as a force for good—one that should reform and, as necessary, expand to meet the needs of all of its citizens, especially the most disadvantaged. Thus, Democrats like experienced, professional politicians who are comfortable with policy. This is why the party’s nominees, from Jimmy Carter to Hillary Clinton, have tended toward wonkiness.

The*Republicans Party, meanwhile, is skeptical of the government’s ability to solve problem and of policy*expertise itself (especially when it comes to government bureaucrats). Thus, Republicans*have preferred politicians who believe common sense and one’s instincts are more valuable than detailed knowledge.*

...

The Republicans have been much more inclined to run celebrity politicians than Democrats, and not only to the White House:*Arnold Schwarzenegger was the governor of California, Sonny Bono a U.S. congressman, and Fred Thompson a U.S. senator.*To nominate a celebrity is to say: You don’t need to be a pointy-heady intellectual to govern; all you need is a good gut.

I want to be crystal clear here. As I've said above: I don't think Oprah would be a good president, I am hoping she does NOT run, and I would 100% not vote for her in the primary.

I just stated that if she runs, she has a great shot in the primary and that she would beat Trump (as would most Democrats IMO).

I'm firmly in the "Prove you can run a state or be in Congress without any major **** ups before you run for POTUS," camp.

Democratic presidential candidates results in Wisconsin...

1968 44%
1972 43.7%
1976 49.5%
1980 43.2%
1984 45%
1988 51.4%
1992 41.1%
1996 48.8%
2000 47.8%
2004 49.7%
2008 56.2%
2012 52.8%
2016 46.4%

Somehow this is, "Every year, Wisconsin goes redder and redder."

I mean, sure, if you start from Obama's first win, when he was one of the GOAT candidates to run. If you start from Reagan's win in '84 and look at '88 and '92, Texas just gets bluer and bluer every year... which is probably true of almost every red state from '84 if you look at three elections as some sort of a sample size.

At the state level it is more obvious.

People like to pretend Wisconsin is or was a reliable Blue state.

It's not.

Your chart shows that.

Wisconsin is gone, off the table, permanently.

If she gives inspirational speeches and defers to her advisers on complex or technical issues she would be way better than average.

My chart shows Dems winning 8 out of 13 elections there. I'm happy to wager on a Dem carrying Wisconsin in 2020. Since it's off the table permanently, this is like free money for you, even laying me odds. What do you say? Or are you just full of ****?
