Who will run against Trump in 2020? Who will run against Trump in 2020?

Woke potheads are the most gullible people on the planet, there's a good chance they still back Trump. I mean, Republicans have never been unclear about where they stand on pot and anyone dumb enough to think Trump was going to do anything other than double down on the war on drugs is dumb enough to get fooled again and again and again.

I'm not sure if even Oprah could escape this.

Agree with much of your post, though. Bernie has about as good a shot as anyone, but I think he'll need a few breaks to win. Warren not running would be huge. As would a news focus on economic issues instead of race/gender issues.
You are commenting like your u know your stuff. Please explain why NH being super white is an issue? Bernie is loved by minorities.

That's fair. I'd say Booker is better at delivering a more buttoned down speech, but Bernie is so good in the rally setting... and I don't know if Booker can draw crowds to big rallies like that.

Love the double standard. Libs need to run someone without the slightest hint of ever having jaywalked, who has never misspoken and never changed their mind on an issue.

Conservatives, meanwhile, can run and win with Donald ****ing Trump.

Conservative politicians are held to the same exact standards as televangelists.

If Oprah ran, Deepak Chopra would be her VP. She'd replace The Dotard's Coke button with healing crystals.

Yeah, I almost put this in my "why each candidate won't win" post, but I'm not sure how legit it is either.

So, although she's currently the hardest for me to make a case against, she's also the candidate most likely to have some unknown issue -- whether it's stupid comments, or the Willie Brown stuff, or something else.

Bernie is loved by white people a lot more.

Hillary beat him by more than 50(!) percentage points among African Americans.

I will definitely attend any Oprah speech I can, good chance everyone in the audience will receive a free car.

Oprah vs Trump is what we as a nation deserve.

I'm stumped as to how she doesn't win a primary on the dem side unless another high profile celeb also runs. Only bad thing people got on Oprah atm seems to be she knows Weinstein pretty well.

She'll win when she mentions everyone who votes for her is eligible to win a car. (I'm sure this is illegal but lol @ that mattering anymore)

If Oprah runs, she's probably the favorite. I really hope she doesn't run.

I have nothing against Oprah personally, but I'd like to not correct this absolute horror show of a reality TV star presidency with a TV host presidency.

Yeah, Oprah's a businesswoman, too, but FFS can't any celebrities start out in the Senate or a governorship anymore?

That's pretty much what I was thinking. Definitely do not think she's the best option for the democrats... but just goes to show the complete lack of anyone with charisma/leadership in the party right now.

I still remember my 14 year-old self watching Obama's DNC speach in 2004 and being 100% convinced that he would be the next nominee/president.

58 percent of Democratic primary voters in 2016 were women and 25 percent were African-American. Combine those and you get about 68.5% of the electorate. Oprah would likely increase those numbers as a percentage, by inspiring a lot of new voters. Oprah, among the current field of contenders, stands to absolutely crush it in those two demographics. Call it 70%... If she survives the first few states, and gets 60% of those voters once the field narrows, she's basically untouchable - that's 42%. She's got the money to survive the first few states even without doing well results-wise.

It's a virtual lock that she has better name recognition right now than anyone in the Democratic field. Even Bernie and Biden.

She'll also get insane amounts of free media - especially with access to TV show promotional budgets to use for rally stunts. Like, imagine a one hour special where she does some discussion about the state of America, politics, etc, then ends it with a "You get a car! You get a car! Everyone gets a car!" style giveaway of one year of health insurance.

I also don't see why this is GG Dems. Oprah crushes Trump in a general. She'd be a horribly unqualified president, by normal standards, but if that mattered for the existence of a party, it would be GG Reps right now and it's not. It might be GG Reps if this Russia thing implicates a bunch of them, but even then I doubt it.

More like GG USA.

Likewise - I was 18 at the time. That was one hell of a speech.

Florida, no chance.

Pennsylvania doubtful, Ohio, doubtful, Wisconsin doubtful.

Oprah might swing Michigan, thou far from a guarantee.

If you go thru the list of states Trump won, you begin to see how difficult the task will be.

People who think Oprah has the woman vote wrapped up do not understand how much woman hate other woman, particularly how they hate successful woman.

Trump would get 4 of 10 woman voters, how sick is that.

Add in more voter suppression, misogyny by men, ramped up racism of Spanish and other cultures against blacks, and bam, you have Trump four more years.

Democrats vastly underestimate the hate is this country.

Trump didn't underestimate it, he exploited it, that's why he's president.

If I went thru the states Oprah could lose because she's black and a woman, people would get all bent out of shape.

But they are out there.

Way trump is going you could run just about anyone against him.

Like to see Biden Warren/Bernie ticket and make the establishment and more progressive hold hands.
