Maybe it’s a good strategy to convince Republicans that we need a right to privacy by showing them that it benefits gross old rich men.

That’s an interesting idea. I’ve had several of my conservative friends try to tell me that Roe v. Wade was decided by a “Progressive Democrat” court; however, the Justices who decided Roe v. Wade were mostly nominated by Republican presidents:
Blackmun—Nixon (R)
Burger—Nixon (R)
Douglas—F. Roosevelt (D)
Brennan—Eisenhower (R)
Stewart—Eisenhower (R)
Marshall—L. Johnson (D)
Powell—Nixon (R)
White—Kennedy (D)
Rehnquist—Nixon (R)

Rehnquist was the only dissenting Justice nominated by a Republican president. Every other Republican nominated Justice on the court voted or concurred with the court decision.
