What? The media didn't ruin Perot's chances. Perot briefly withdrew from the race. His VP pick memorably didn't even tune in to the VP debate. And Perot still got 20% of the vote. The assassination talk is such weird conspiracy-theory nonsense that I don't even know what to say in response.

Maybe I'm wrong, but citation needed for "corporate-controlled fake 4th estate bull**** media come out in full force against him". Something better than random anecdotal evidence.

Admiral Stockdale in that VP debate makes Rick Perry look like William Jennings Bryan. Phil Hartman impersonating Stockdale is one my favorite all time bits.

"Generic Third-Party Candidate"

Sounds intriguing... I like the cut of his jib.

Also that poll spells trouble for obama. With his superior name recognition he should be polling higher. Typically undecideds break for the challenger, especially in such an anti-incumbent environment.

speak on it

Put together a slightly more optimistic economic attitude among likely voters, and the fact that Romney is the most assailable on jobs of any challenger in the field, I think teamobama is comfortable with Mitt. They would prefer Newt or RP, but no one up there is afraid of Romney.

Romney is much scarier to me personally as an Obama supporter. A decent chunk of swing voters tend to be pretty low information and vote based on who looks the most presidential and doesn't say anything outlandish or scary. The dislikability of Newt and old coot factor of Paul would play much much more into Obama's hands with that group.

Of course Obama isn't scared. I mean he is the 4th President ever don't ya know? Lincoln, FDR, LBJ, Obama.

As a disgusted neutral afraid of any R candidate........I prefer Mitt. He inspires low-energy, will encourage a social con or Lib 3rd party of significance, and is so easy to tear down.

Mr. Obama was recently asked by CBS's Steve Croft on "60 Minutes" to reflect on his Presidency to date, and the outtakes of the interview that aired last Sunday have been posted online. "The issue here is not going be a list of accomplishments," Mr. Obama responded. "As you said yourself, Steve, you know, I would put our legislative and foreign-policy accomplishments in our first two years against any president—with the possible exceptions of Johnson, FDR and Lincoln—just in terms of what we've gotten done in modern history. But, you know, but when it comes to the economy, we've got a lot more work to do."
You can say a lot of bad things about the dude but a lack of self confidence is not one. He is like LeBron, he got game.
12-21-2011 , 03:09 PM
Andrew Johnson had very few legislative accomplishments in his first two years.
12-21-2011 , 03:21 PM
I like how he couched his answer with "possible exceptions...." I mean, if you wanted to argue he is the best of all time who would he be to disagree? Such a douchebag.

On the drive to work, some RP fanboy must have an empty lot next to the freeway cause there's a few RP signs on a fence. My favorite:

"MEDIA LIES! RON PAUL CAN WIN!"
12-21-2011 , 03:50 PM
Wow, what state are you in?
12-21-2011 , 03:51 PM
California. This is the most liberal area of the state too, lol.

We've had a giant END THE FED RON PAUL 2012 for about 2 years now on a local railroad bridge

Mitt on Paul:
“I think Ron Paul has run a very effective campaign. He’s been hard-working, he’s represented himself well in the debates. I don’t believe he’ll become our nominee — I believe his views are well out of the mainstream of Republican thought — but he may be able to get some folks to support him in an early contest or two and maybe down the road as well. So you have to tip your hat and say he’s doing a nice job representing his views.”

Not too worried at this point.

I disagree, Romney hasn't yet been through the torture of a general election, where everything and more is thrown at you. Obama's been through the ringer and there's nothing new that will come out.

I also don't believe that even 9% of the population knows who Gary Johnson is.

There really doesn't need to be anything new to come out about Obama. If Romney can keep the focus on Obama's record he will win given current sentiment.
