In an amusing attempt to apparently emulate the contemporary Vacation films, in 1983 Romney crammed the brood into a car for a 12 hour drive to Ontario with Seamus strapped to the roof.

LOL at the picture of early 80's hipster Romney. There's a good analogy to made between poor Seamus and what the lower classes should expect during a Romney administration but the perfect wording is escaping me.

The middle bridge line is "not sit at the back of the bus", the punchline is "cling on to the roof of the car", but i cant work out the first set up line.

He will never ever be able to say people are hurting in the country. If he does it at a debate Obama just snaps back "yeah, not everyone has 10k to bet with Texans", if he does it any other time an Obama advert will just cut that footage together and basically not need to say anything else.

When the economy is bad and people are hurting they dont vote in politicians who are open about the fact they arent hurting. Half of America is two paychecks away from defaulting on their bills and Mitt is offering to gamble 5 figure sums on TV with his political opponents? It may or may not stick on its own, personally i think it will, but it certainly gave plenty of fuel for Obama to set aflame later in the campaign if one of his opponents doesnt do it in the primary (and they will).

It wouldnt be so bad were he not the candidate everyone was watching closely to find reasons not to like.
I doubt it will be a big deal. Stupid but not a big deal. Besides if he wins the nomination, this is not an attack that Obama can make (the DNC and some super Pacs might work it into a spot or two) . Your talking about a guy who has made millions takes several lavish vacations a year going after someone cause they are rich?

This made me LOL.

Former House speaker Newt Gingrich said Monday morning he would “consider” returning the money he earned as a consultant to mortgage giant Freddie Mac if Republican rival Mitt Romney returned his earnings from “bankrupting companies and laying off employees.”

yeah, an opinion piece from someone who claims to be a moderate but probably hasn't voted for a republican since ghwb is going to change everything.

It's not that piece in particular, it's the fact that there's literally no one else in the race left to turn to and they gotta turn somewhere.

Lol at Mitt turning around failing businesses being as bad as lobbying for the companies that Newt himself blames for the economic meltdown.

Maybe, but it just seems unlikely for the republican base to turn to a guy who called them ******ed a few months ago.

They've turned to Newt. Hunstman's campaign has been terribad. I don't think he's ever flip flopped on abortion, gun rights, or taxes. He should've gone with that instead of being smug. Either his staff is really dumb, or he is really dumb. I've always liked him when hearing him speak a few times over the years, but he's been bad overall in his message. I think he has flip flopped on individual mandate and cap and trade. So, there's that too.

He could surprise everybody in NH I guess, his dad is a billionaire. He could get serious money from dad and contend in FL if Romney did poorly in IA and NH. At this point, I don't think even his dad believes in his candidacy because Jon is funding the campaign out of his own pocket and not even trying in Iowa.

ARG Iowa Poll 12/8-12/11

22% Gingrich (-5)
17% Paul (+1)
17% Romney (-3)
13% Perry (+8)
7% Bachmann (+1)
7% Santorum (+1)
5% Huntsman (+2)

Source

First sign of Newt starting to decline in Iowa. ARG sees Perry at his highest since September, and with PPP seeing Bachmann at her highest since September, we could actually be in for a very competitive five way race in Iowa.
