Who Will Be the 2012 Republican Presidential Nominee? Who Will Be the 2012 Republican Presidential Nominee?

No ikes, we're reading THE ACTUAL LINES, the ones you didn't quote because you know it ruins your argument.

Perry must be a birther, he says he doesn't care!

Perry must be a birther, he says he has no reason not to believe Obama!

Perry must be a birther, he says he met with Trump!

You guys must be really bored.

What, exactly?

Quote:
-Governor, do you believe that President Barack Obama was born in the United States?
-I have no reason to think otherwise.
Not birther
Quote:
-That’s not a definitive, “Yes, I believe he”
-Well, I don’t have a definitive answer, because he’s never seen my birth certificate
I assume he means Obama birth certificate, and still not birther
Quote:
-But you’ve seen his.
-I don’t know. Have I?
Hasn't seen it.
Quote:
-You don’t believe what’s been released?[/B]
-I don’t know. I had dinner with Donald Trump the other night.
Still hasn't seen it.
Quote:
-And?
-That came up.
-And he said?
-He doesn’t think it’s real.
ZOMG TRUMP, still not birther
Quote:
-And you said?
-I don’t have any idea. It doesn’t matter. He’s the President of the United States. He’s elected. It’s a distractive issue.
Perry doesn't care, not birther.

At this point, no one is interested in the birther thing; the interesting thing is to see how long you'll persist in taking a position virtually no one else in the world believes.

But I, for one, do admit to being pretty bored today.

Because Perry is nothing but dismissive, starts with he believes Obama and ends with saying he doesn't give two ****s about the issue.

.[/QUOTE]

+1 The only thing he says is other people have doubts but he doesn't really care and it is not an issue. I think the Dems and the liberal press really want a birther issue and anything but a I have seen the birth certificate and it is authenticate answer qualifies a person as such.

So one, not two. Surprisingly, Bachmann was wrong. Go figure.

Yeah- I pretty much ticked off my last to do for the day before lunch.

Nobody's saying he's an outright brither. However, there's a way to answer that question that makes it clear you think birthers are FOS, and there's a way to answer it that grants their idiocy a hint of legitimacy. You know which line he took.

lololol so Perry isn't a birther, but he's not anti-birther enough!

K got it.

People itt way overestimate Perry and his ability to articulate himself.

Ikes:

Can you seriously look us in the internet-eyes and say with a straight face that Perry was not attempting to curry favor with the birthers?

By basically saying they're idiots for caring at this point?

ikes, when he asks the interviewer "Have I?" do you think he was honestly asking a random Parade interview to like, refresh Perry's memory of whether Rick Perry has seen Barack Obama's birth certificate? Like Rick Perry forgot?
10-24-2011 , 05:02 PM
Any discussion that gets Fly to quote Karl Rove approvingly can't be all bad.
10-24-2011 , 05:03 PM
Perry is obviously being a politician and trying to have his cake and eat it to by saying something that gives Birthers hope he's one of them and not saying anything that's wrong either to hope non-Birthers just ignore it.

It's no different than Cain saying different things to different people, or pretty much any politician throughout history that said wishywashy statements to try to keep as much broad support as he can.

Hey guys I don't know if Dick Cheney plotted the controlled demolition of WTC7. I don't have any specific reason to think he did, but I did have lunch with Jiggs the other day and he thinks Cheney did it.

You're certainly stretching Karl Rove's comments too. He basically said:

What you said was stupid. Be careful what you say and how you say or you will be grouped with those nuts and it will hurt your campaign.

But then who the f cares about Karl Rove anyway.

Wait wait, are you really going down the evil genius route? Because the rick perry isn't very good at what he does seems much, much, much more likely to me.

eta: And I'm freaking glad we're past Perry is a birther. That is what actually bothered me.

What he actually said was:
Quote:
"You associate yourself with a nutty view like that, and you damage yourself," Rove said. "And I know he went and he's trying to cultivate -- as all of them are -- Donald Trump, in order to get his endorsement, but this is not the way to go about doing it, because it starts to marginalize you in the minds of some of the people whom you need in order to get the election."

"There's a simple answer," Rove continued. "Yes, he was born in the United States, yes, he is eligible to serve, and don't associate yourself with sort of this nutty fringe group."
So yeah, Karl Rove, like every other native English speaker, totally sees through the "I don't know" to realize this is Perry playing to the birthers.

Or Obama saying his position on gay marriage is evolving.

What I'm proposing doesn't exactly require a genius-level of intelligence.

I guess I am going down the evil-just barely capable of making an obvious appeal- route, though.

so its no longer word-salad when someone spews gibberish, the new word is ikes-salad.

time to add that one wikipedia

To we really need to drag Fly in here to point out what he was obviously suggesting?
