Capitalism had its reason for supplanting the monarchical system. Socialism and then communism had its place to replace another monarchical system.

American capitalism has moved as close as possible to a monarchical system as can be done without a coronation of some type. The macbook occupation of Wallstreet and other symbolic regions won't be sufficient to replace the status quo,,,,,,,,,,,yet. Once they have become destitute and hungry enough though, say goodbye to insurance companies as they operate today.

They would sell insurance for insurable events like deaths, fires, and floods instead of selling tickets to the all you can eat (unless you've ever eaten anything before) health care buffet.

So it finally looks like tele tubbie Christie has finally stopped the charade of running for president. Just reported on msnbc.

and Huckabee and Trump

lol Trump.

Didnt Huckabee confirm he wasnt running months ago? Palin is still on the fence. Rubio could theoretically be convinced to run by the same moneymen who tried to get Christie to run, he is certainly the next best option (if not better) left out there with name recognition and "the right policies".

I think if Palin had already decided to not run, this exit by Christie might steer her to changing her mind. It was her contention that if no one stepped up with the correct positioning it would be her duty to take the lead.

If she is smart (lol) she will just endorse Cain and angle to get some kind of job after the election. Though whether that is in the white house or the fox news studio is another question.

And I guess that is all he had left cause it is abundantly clear that he can't run on his record.
to be fair, every republican campaign as far back as I remember is "the most divisive campaign in modern history." Karl Rove isn't known to be the mechanic of campaigns that bring people together. The Republican party thrives on stirring its constituents against the threats of gays destroying marriage/military, liberals banning religion, Islamics converting the country to Sharia law, unions bankrupting america, small town 'real americans' vs big city liberals, immigrants stealing everyone's jobs and the general evilness of trial lawyers.

The standard of campaign ads are divisive ugly attack ads.

If a divisive campaign is a sign that someone has no record then the GOP hasn't had a record as long I've been paying attention.

With the advent of Super PACs, I would expect a lot of very ugly attack ads coming from shadow organizations, while the candidates come across as sunny.

A word coined by Cheney, dithering and then parroted by all the gop talkers, has become the campaign poster word for some that are either leaders, or want to be leaders, of the republican party. Of course the righties will not accept that it actually occurred, it must be a fabrication of the librul media elites.

I predict that Perry's numbers will improve over the next few weeks, as people come to terms with the fact that there really is no alternative to Romney.

I do like how Obama is "whining" about the Republicans booing a gay solider by, uh, mentioning it once. As always, the real victims are always conservatives.

I personally prefer Chaos Theory over Evolution to explain stuff. God provides butterfly effects every now and then.

Capitalism and monarchy are not mutually exclusive. Don't confuse an economic system with a political system.

Capitalism and monarchy are not mutually exclusive. Don't confuse an economic system with a political system.
They are intertwined. Back in the day, to obtain a trading charter a royal decree was required. That came from the monarch or their agents, sometimes from the clergy. But modern capitalism, without that aristocratic body, allowed anyone with the drive to succeed an opportunity. It removed the caste system, most specifically in America.

But where has it gone today, controlled by the corporate elite who have taken on the role of the aristocracy. One of the recurring statements made in this forum is about how the people have no say in the current system. That in itself is hogwash, because the corporations, which are controlled by people, have tremendous say in how government operates. They lobby with cash before the election, and then continue to lobby with cash after the election.

No one stops the general electorate from the same function, in fact it's what is supposed to happen. Instead the electorate has chosen, in a way, to bow to the new royalty.

Rich conservative white men are the last acceptable prejudice in this country.

It has been more than once. As always, this President will lead by addressing the real issues that face this country, hecklers. Do you Dems have any standard for Obama? I mean I think his NCAA picks are pretty cool but I can live without them.

Please...the GOP-led senate actually spent a day of their time to pass a resolution condemning an independent organization for running an ad which criticized General Petraeus.

You really don't care that Obama has completely abandoned his promise to be a uniiter not a divider?
