I'll assume this is a serious question...how you voted is private. Whether you voted is, generally, public.

In Illinois at least, whether you pulled a Dem or GOP ballot in a primary election is public as well. Also, if a husband is checking to see who his wife voted for as opposed to asking her, the wife has bigger problems IMO.

Why does this matter?

If 2+2 doesn't know whether voting records are public, how can your average American women voting based on appearance be expected to know this information. It will not significantly change voting.

Of course ballots are secret. If they weren't, vote selling would be huge business.

the thing of it is... and this is what derives the public from the congressional malarchy... is that even though many peopl e think that obama has gotten the lead, most peikple just want to say that they will vote obama (in terms of the demcorats) even though they will end of voting for edwards, or possiblt hullary if they can pull the oprah angle enough (everyday woman, yadda, yadda, yadda). what theyts ay behind closed curtians is not the same as what they profess in public. so yes, therre is a discrepancy between the public vote and the private vote in terms of personal atonement.
