Crazily you'll find most on this forum have the exact opposite view about paragraph 1 - see McConnell's scorched earth congress from 2010-2016.

This for me is one of the toughest parts about engaging across the great divide, but also maybe the most vital if we're ever going to pull out of his morass - when you find out just how far apart the two sides are on perceptions. I hear chiefsplanet whining about how Dems refuse to compromise and my head starts to swim.

I'm not a politics poster nor will I ever be, unless something dramatic happens in terms of changes to moderation. I'm contributing my opinion on the status of the forum in a thread entitled, "Status of this Forum". Until the overriding tone of snark and disrespect towards criticism changes, why would I play by different rules than you? You're as snarky as they come. Yet you would have me play by different rules than you and still absorb your snark all the way through--that's the height of hypocrisy.

Right, which is why at the time I put it in specific terms of "Trump being actively blackmailed by Putin". Which, there were plenty of folks coming forward arguing exactly that. And I'm sure I made the distinction at the time. It's not an unsupported conspiracy theory to say that the Russians, or the Saudis, or the Israelis have some influence due to monetary and business connections. That's all true and there's evidence for that. But then saying that's on the spectrum of being actively blackmailed/controlled by Putin is ludicrous. Hillary would have been comprised in the same way by any number of shady foreign powers.

And to bring it full circle, liberals watch doofus liberal Bill Maher as he playfully debates Ann Coulter about how much she hates Mexicans and Muslims.

Lol you banned commas? I was actually going through his posting history to figure out how much was either bitching about politics forum or no content internet snark. Not surprisingly bitching about politics is over 10% of his posts. It looks like general snark is the majority of his history.

Absolutely 100% sincere here (and I am sure I am not alone on this). But I would LOVE a legitimate explanation of what goes on in the Conservative mind and what you guys actually think. For reals. It's true that I don't think conservatives are trolls or at least lack the self-awareness or honesty to relay that stuff even if they wanted too. And I have plenty of reason for that belief (see NewOldGuy, Commas etc above). But if there are any exceptions to that, it would be amazing to hear it. Lay that **** on me.

Yes, Hillary did things that put her in extremely compromising positions like secretly seeking approval for a massive real estate deal in the capital of a foreign adversary while repeatedly lying about it and vigorously denying it until after the election and doing her best to cover it up after winning the election w/ a massive assist from such adversary until her attorney was thrown in jail two years later.... partly for lying about her Moscow real estate deal to Congress.. Oh wait, we actually knew about her ties because the Clinton Foundation appropriately disclosed its donations before the election, which allowed voters to appropriately scrutinize Hillary’s activities and judge her accordingly.
