That Daily Beast article is perhaps the worst piece of journalism I have ever read on the site.
Quote:
Mark it down: This was the weekend a significant portion of the internet discovered that the United States locks up immigrant families. A 2014 story about family detention circulated on Twitter, with many media figures embarrassingly indicating they thought the story was new.
This didn't happen. Several media figures were taken in by photos of detained children which were actually Obama-era. The idea that this indicated that they were not aware that there were children (with their families) in detention is the author's invention.
Quote:
The biggest difference between Trump and Obama’s policies toward children, according to lawyers, is that the Trump administration is arresting and prosecuting parents who cross the border illegally with their children, which results in children being separated from their parents and placed in custody of the Department of Health and Human Services.
What is "according to lawyers" doing in there? Is that the case or not?
