Total to all you lot whoa re going out and protesting this ****

Went to the Sacramento rally at the ICE building. If nothing else it serves as the catalyst for having the first discussion of this type with my 6.5 y/o daughter. She already has been given some of the indoctrination of freedoms and liberty in school, and we know many immigrants besides both sides of her family so it was much simpler than I thought it may be. She ****ing gets it because it is really not that complex. Makes me wonder how those conversations go on the deplorable side, but I have a pretty good guess.

What’s next?

When do I get my check from Soros?

Some photos from SF today (photos link to larger versions):

At Dolores Park at the start

Walking up Dolores Street, can't see the start of the march in front of me

...or the end of it behind me

At the rally at City Hall, DSA (in red and with red signs) marched up to the front shouting "do your job, abolish ICE" while state senator Scott Weiner (famous for his housing bill) spoke. Message seems a little misdirected imo, not a lot the California legislature can do to abolish ICE, but the state reps speaking endorsed their message

I estimate several hundred people showed up in Phoenix at the State Senate. Could have been more if it had been better advertised with more info online. Met a couple of cool people. One lady was there from Virginia. She said she did historical horticulture at Monticello. Lol at Trump's legacy at Mar-a-Lago.

Other side of sign: "DON'T CAGE ME, BRO"

It was early in the day, but still hot. Shade was at a premium. Paramedics treated one lady and she was taken to a hospital.

There was a small but loud group of counterprotesters. They circled the rally on the sidewalk, closely watched by several cops. The dude in red is open-carrying. I got there a little early and I saw a couple of heavily armed cops enter one of the buildings, I guess so they could watch from the roof (sniper?).

I saw zero Trump supporters/counterprotesters in SF, unless you count this guy:

I think he's standing on a car, and I didn't totally get what he was doing, I think when I was walking by some lady was yelling at him and he was yelling back at her (through his megaphone) "where is your husband? where is your husband?"

Can't wait to get on that sweet lord.
06-30-2018 , 07:37 PM
Probably just there cause he knew there'd be a crowd. Looks like the type who show up on college campuses and loudly condemn the fornicators.
06-30-2018 , 07:42 PM
I didn't see any counterprotesters in LA.

You have to be a real extra special kind of horrible to counter-protest this. Imagine being so in favor of toddler concentration camps that you march in public for them.

Joined DSA, bought a T-shirt for my moms.

Mostly there to trigger libs though. Sure, I bet some of them do believe that caging children is a good thing. But another portion is there just to trigger liberals since that in itself is considered virtuous.

Thanks to all who marched yesterday! I was grinding all day at the WSOP, so didn't make it out - just so focused on work for these ~6 weeks. I was with you in spirit, though.

I'm looking forward to doing what I can via protest/volunteering on my way back across the country in a few weeks, though.

We need a discourse that attacks the premises of restricting access to resources and restricting rights based on a primitive, tribalistic, immoral concept like nationality. It's not that asylum is a right, it's that asylum shouldn't be an operative concept.

When we say "cops and klan go hand in hand," it's really not a figure of speech. They are literally assisting right wing terrorists in their crime sprees. And the media is helping them get away with it.

Media's response:

Oh wow, Dems are making another huge mistake if they advocate abolishing ICE. Most people are unsure what it does, but Reps will define it as the agency that keeps the US safe. They should just ride the momentum of the family separation win for mid-term elections. Also, the woman who said "replace ICE with something..." - another error - if you want to complain about something, have a solution in place already.

The Dems should hire a Rep strategist since they're so bad at pragmatic thinking.

"repeal and replace" was the Republican strategy for 8 years without even so much as a thought of what should replace it
07-01-2018 , 02:08 PM
How about repeal and replace with war crimes tribunals.
07-01-2018 , 02:11 PM
Just like the Republicans took over by proposing sensible alternatives instead of calling to undo anything Obama did and put Hillary in prison.
