We prevail: They say "Oops, my bad. Yeah maybe we went a little over the line. Sorry about all that. Friends?", and go on with their cushy suburban lives - vigorously sucking at the govt teat of all the Democrat-created programs they hate.

They win: Holocaust II

CP somehow even more deplorable than I expected

Yeah, same here. And I didn't think that was possible. I woke up in a good mood for about 10 minutes today. Now I'm filled with rage and sadness.

Nothing gets cp more animated than the prospect of abusing immigrants. These are the guys who would gleefully sign up to run death camps.

Just remember that going after immigrants as a successful "wedge" issue for a single election basically destroyed the Republican party in California.

I hope that is replicated, but California is 39% non-Hispanic white. In 1990 it was 57%.

they should obey the laws of america like the ones that allow a foreign-born escort to marry a billionaire and plop out an anchor baby and bring her parents from overseas

why don’t they just do that?? instead, they choose to break the law like animals

Worse, we have not yet hit bottom.

Those CP guys wouldn't even qualify for the Hannah Arendt WTF just happened study. They will not be "following orders," they'll be giving them.

This. The reaction against separating children may not be immediately helping these children yet, but hopefully it's a speed bump on the road to the next atrocity.

Listening to my mother's defense of this policy was disgusting.

I brought it up figuring that even this would be too much for her to handle. Maybe she'd continue to support Trump but hate this.

I was wrong. So naive.

Even the arguments are atrocious and littered with whataboutism as everything I pointed out in a reasoned manner went back to what Obama did even after I showed her several articles that pointed to the contrary. She then turned to some video from some low-rent InfoWars setup called Reality Check and it was complete dreck. Completely loaded language and spouting out the craziest conspiracy theories.

I mean she wasn't joyous about families being split up but simultaneously expressed no empathy either.

Some people are too far gone. My mother is one of them.

Focus on making sure the youth don't grow up to be so hateful and stupid.

Texas is 44% non-Hispanic white.

If the GOP can be irreparably damaged in Texas, that is gigantic.

Howdy I was born in Texas. I don’t think the gop can lose texas unless they become the culturally liberal party.

You know who sucks is Oklahomans. The ice guys are probably all Oklahomans.

Imagine a 2020 race in which Trump and the Democratic candidate are running against the other candidate's support of family separation. Dems will blame Trump, and Trump will keep blaming Dems and calling it a Democratic policy.

In this scenario, I could easily see Trump conning enough people into both sidesing it and ignoring the issue.

I think it will be more about which irregular voters are motivated to show up and hope it will be people who think this is ****ed up and blame Trump, Sessions, and the GOP.

Dems gotta start appealing to emotion more. Running solely on issues a la Hillary doesn't move the needle. People need to go to the emotional and deeper aspects.

Lawyers in this thread: Considering the mental anguish and longlasting psychological damage to the kids, does an 8th Amendment challenge of this policy have any chance of success?

Good thread - and some serious SHATS fired at Jordan Peterson.

I really think that's the mistake people, myself included, have with interacting with deplorables. They're deplorable people. By definition, they have no empathy.

They've been brainwashed by years, sometimes decades of right-wing conspiracy theories and racist propaganda. They are unreachable. We have to act in such a way that children do not get exposed to that and that they know that racist behavior should be condemned.
06-17-2018 , 06:23 PM
They have empathy for the in-group. None for the outgroup. Maybe that needs a new word.
06-17-2018 , 06:24 PM
I'm starting to think it wasn't about economic anxiety after all!
