Angus King will win, won't be close. The guy running as an R is a 30 year old dumbass with a youtube video of him doing the Harlem Shake in his underwear.

Yes, wasn't talking about the Senate. The map is so bad that Dems would need like a 62/38 split to get to 50 seats. (Obv, depends on each state, but a 62/38 would be enough of a wave that Dems would win all the toss-ups and lean GOP states).

Someone please just beat the **** out of Steve King. As with Stephen Miller, a D.C. jury is never convicting.

He did a great job staying cool and owning that sad excuse for a human.

Btw, Susan Handel is a 10/10 deplorable whose voter suppression efforts as Georgia SOS were despicable. She would be governor, but lost the primary after she was accused of once associating with a gay rights group.

The whole notion of nationality is incompatible with the idea of democratic governance. I liv e in a place, I pay taxes, I otherwise live like everyone else, but the government is not accountable to me because I'm not a citizen ...

In the future we will see nationality/citizenship/patriotism/etc. as something primitive, like the institutionalized racism of my father's era, that it's hard to believe sane, decent people routinely defended.

Well, the concentration camps are being built and it appears that the EO was just a bull**** thing that Donald countered by telling ICE on the down low to ignore it.

ICE is the literal Gestapo

What exactly does Lieu want to be done about those children?

I would assume shoot them, that noise they're making is irritating.

I can't speak for Ted Lieu, but to borrow from Microbet, there's no harm in providing them with a handshake and a Social Security Number.

Also we should reunite them with their families yesterday.

"Angel Families" is an amazing neologism. I'll bet it's a Steve Bannon original. A transparently cynical riff off of "Gold Star Families," which was itself a cynical piece of jingoistic propaganda that the Democrats embraced without any critical thought during the 2016 campaign.

I want to recommend a book The Heritage: Black Athletes, a Divided America, and the Politics of Patriotism by Howard Bryant for a lot of reasons but partially because it does a solid job documenting the blurred lines between domestic law enforcement and the military that happened after 9/11. It wasn't until armored vehicles trudged down the streets of Ferguson that the mainstream left thought that maybe things seemed a bit wrong. Now that we've got ICE agents in tactical gear rounding up refugees and transporting them to military bases it's maybe time for liberals to get back to their roots as the party that is skeptical of the military-industrial-law enforcement complex.

There's always going to be issues for kids when their parent break the law - illegal border crossing or otherwise. Is there even capacity to house the children where the parents are? It's a bad situation to bring your kids to.

Really, what's the motivation to be an apologist for forcibly taking small children away from their mothers? What you do even get out of that? At least the Quislings got some temporary financial benefit out of collaboration, you just give that **** away for free.

They could release the parents and the kids with a court date to come back and an ankle bracelet. They had just that program in place mere months ago and 95 percent of people showed up for their court dates. Or, you know, we could waste billions of taxpayer dollars a year incarcerating families for no particularly good reason.

For about the nine billionth time ITT, seeking asylum isn't illegal.

What do you think should be done with businessdude?

I'm a weird anarchist and am an extremist as far as not having things done with people. But what do more moderate people feel should be done to odious people who suggest that the US government needs to be incarcerating babies because their parents desperately want to make a better life for them (a sign that these are exceptionally good people who would make awesome Americans)?

I just mock them on the internet; it's probably not a good strategy.

I'm not really taking a side, just recognizing that when you overwhelm a limited government system, you can't expect wonderful results. I've only spent a few minutes reading about this issue (don't know the Quislings), but it seems like Trump made a good decision with the executive order he signed. Now it seems it's back to what even Obama was doing.
