I don't really see anything special there. I don't know how to explain it and it's just aesthetic, but something about the rhyme and rhythm in the Steve Miller city list hits me as good. Maybe it's the interior rhymes.

I haven't read many of his posts, but everyone ****s their pants when VanVeen posts in OOT.

Steve Miller >>> Huey Lewis imo if nothing else than for the Fly Like an Eagle intro

But the lyrics are still pretty forgettable.

Quote:
I met you on somebody's island
You thought you had known me before
I brought you a crate of papaya
Then waited all night by your door
You probably wouldn't remember
I probably couldn't forget
Jungle love, in the surf, in the pouring rain
Everything's better when wet
If this speaks to you then I don't know what to say.

I posted in Trump thread but thought it should be here as well.

Potentially illegal to use the military for this. But it’s on folks.

I went on a camping trip in high school and when we got there we found out that we weren't able to receive any radio stations. The only tape anybody had was The Steve Miller Band's Greatest Hits. I heard a lifetime's worth of those songs in those couple of days. Also, I am old.

I once spent an entire day river-tubing on mushrooms and the only tape we had was Billy Squier's greatest hits. Stroke me baby!

This music derail makes me feel very young and I appreciate that.

Probably posted already, but here's a google doc with the names/contacts of the companies profiting from the concentration camps.

Worst list-of-cities lyrics:

Quote:
Come on Charlotte
Wake up San Diego, Milwaukee, Miami
Put your two lips together and kiss

We're kissing in Cleveland and Cincinnatti too
Way out in Chicago, I'll tell you what to do
They party all over, even in St. Lou
So baby, get ready, and I'll be kissing you

We're kissing in Dallas
And Philly's going wild
So let's kiss Atlanta
You know we'll make it smile
Oh, we love the women
Way down in Tennessee
So baby, come on now, and start a-kissing me

Kiss all of Seattle, LA to Baltimore
You know we been kissing in 'Frisco, so let's kiss some more
Let's do it in Detroit, they all know the score
So baby, oh baby, what are we waiting for

The Steve Miller hate ITT just confuses me. Like, I'm not going to nominate him for GOAT or anything, but he's made some enjoyable songs.

Cohen called out the Trump administration’s policy of separating families at the border as part of its “zero tolerance” immigration enforcement, according to ABC News:

“As the son of a Polish holocaust survivor, the images and sounds of this family separation policy is heart wrenching,” Cohen wrote. “While I strongly support measures that will secure our porous borders, children should never be used as bargaining chips.”

Cohen signalling he's done with Trump?

I'll admit that my total war on classic rock often includes collateral damage, and I'll also admit that there are a couple pretty decent songs in Miller's catalog, but the handful of tracks he's most known for are in fact really awful.

It's like a set of axioms that exist only in sci-fi alternate reality: In Deploraville, My President always does The Right Thing. All other plot points are generated from that assumption for these fools.

I liked Steve Miller back in the 80s when I also liked the Eagles. Now they are both insta-skips, even though I'd probably find myself singing along in my head. Part of it is I've heard most of those songs 100s of times; part of it is they're too yacht-rocky.

That's the root problem with classic rock. Most of it isn't inherently bad, it's just so ****ing overplayed and listened to by people with music appreciation that's thimble deep.

Eagles have lots of good songs from different eras. Steve Miller basically has that one song.

But yeah, for the most part I had enough classic rock by my early 30s.

Immigrant children forcibly drugged with ‘powerful’ psychotropics at Texas ‘treatment center’: lawsuit
In a new lawsuit, immigrant children detained at a government-funded facility in Texas described being forcibly drugged with psychotropic medicines that made them dizzy and unable to walk.

Reveal reported Wednesday that minors held at the Shiloh Treatment Center in Manvel, Texas — described in its Google+ listing as a “baby gulag” — were physically abused and given shots of “powerful” psychiatric medications that “rendered them unable to walk, afraid of people and wanting to sleep constantly.”

In the affidavits, the children and their parents said workers at the facility told them they would not be allowed to leave or see their parents if they didn’t take the medicine, which was administered via shots. The children were allegedly told the shots were “vitamins.”

Steve Miller has an entire Greatest Hits album. I don't even know what that one song is you're referring to. I'd guess The Joker, but that wasn't even one of the songs you quoted earlier.

That's not happening, but if it is they're just following the law and it's up to the Democrats to help pass a law about it. Also if the parents don't want their kids to be drugged they shouldn't have brought them. There is no moral issue with drugging kids to protect the borders, unless it turns out that Trump orders this stopped, in which case it was a moral issue and he did the right thing unlike feckless Democrats, MAGA. Deal with it libtards.

Me?

I don't really like that keep a rockin me baby song overall. I just like those few lines.

I was thinking of fly like an eagle, but the joker is better.
