We've only completed one year of post trump america. ecuador and algeria will probably be better by the time its over.

Hard to imagine No Deal actually happening. It would get crushed in the HoC (turkeys not voting for Christmas) and probably in a referendum too, and I'm not naturally an optimist.

Wow caught up on the last several posts. I thought my comments about a looming civil war in the main thread were a little melodramatic, but I had not even heard about a lot of this stuff.

I was at a few counter protests on college campuses soon after the 2016 election and it was nowhere near this ugly. Things are accelerating fast. I don’t see any other option than arming ourselves before it’s too late.

Save your money. There is no way the left wins or even engages in armed conflict. We either stop all of this through the democratic process backed with meaningful civil disobedience and protest, or we quietly surrender to a failed democracy. A populace that won't even take to the streets sure as hell isn't going to take up arms.

That's because the capitalist media is universally either completely ill-equipped to cover this stuff, or they have no interest in covering it. Capitalist media serves the will of the capitalist class--the billionaire class that owns the newspapers, the tv stations, the networks, the radio channels. "Journalism" can never really be legitimate in a situation where capitalism dominates the economy and government of a place. The liberal capitalist media absolutely will not describe these threats accurately. The conservative capitalist media will amplify the Proud Boys and legitimize them with their massive platform, and paint them as victims of liberal mob violence and campus political correctness gone wrong. A big chunk of the liberal media will do the same.
