I was talking about The Tower of London with my mother as she wanted to go to it during the family trip to London. I brought up some information about it, including that some of the artifacts do not actually belong to them and were taken when the UK decided to colonize the third world.

Mom: Well to the victor go to the spoils

Me: You don't think that's wrong at all?

Mom: Well, they...

Me (interrupting): So it would be cool if the UK were to invade America, steal the Constitution and Declaration of Independence, store it in a giant museum and require that the people they stole it from fly to their country and then pay $30 to go into their museum to see it?

Mom: Yeah, that was kind of stupid. But we did that to the Indians too, right?

Me: Yeah, and that was bad as well. Pretty messed up to do that.

Mom: Yeah.

Trumpers can only think of things from the context of being America when it comes to foreign affairs. Perhaps taking a foreign affair situation and changing the context to make it American-centric could change some minds.

Man, these mothe****ers are crying and bitching about the god damned coal mines becoming obsolete or the mill closing and they won’t even move towns, but they have the ****ing nerve to call people fleeing violence and zero opportunity for stoop labor opportunities criminals and moochers. It’s just ridic.

The other side of this is incarnation for profit and the actual, literal slave labor it produces that will fill the gap of the jobs that were previously being “stolen” that no Americans want. Watch.

Meh - I see where you're going, but a fair amount of that stuff would have just been lost if the Brits hadn't hooked it. The Greeks have been trying to get back the Elgin Marbles forever - at the time they were obtained, Greece was controlled by the Ottomans, who didn't give two ****s about a busted down ruin that well might have been recycled to make outhouses or something if Elgin hadn't grabbed them. A huge chunk of all of the papyrus we have were found in a garbage dump in Egypt and sent back to London by archeologists, although there has been some collaborative work with Egypt on them.

Now whether or not the Brits should send the stuff back is another topic - but if they hadn't originally grabbed the stuff, it might well have been lost forever.

I mean that wasn't the point of my post. The point was that reframing arguments by altering the context to make it American-centric can lead towards making progress in changing the minds of Trumpers on issues. Getting my mother to recognize that we didn't have good intentions when invading Indian territory was a step in the right direction towards reality.

It's always wierd that mental illness is brought up for racism. People with mental illness do sometimes latch onto racist words but they have history of mental illness. It's not like saying racist things means your mentally ill, it means you're a racist. Maybe it's some procedure thing I don't know about.

Randomly yelling at people is the bigger tip off for possible mental illness.
06-18-2018 , 10:14 PM
People who go on rants like that make me think there are underlying anger issues which amplify the openly racist taunts. Somewhere on 2+2 I think (maybe fb) I saw a video of a guy in a wheelchair going off on some other guy talking to his mother on the phone in Spanish. He kept doing the English only shtick and said talking in Spanish is disgusting, etc...He seemed so absurdly pissed off about it that I found it hard to take him seriously unless I assumed he was rage filled from something else, perhaps being in a wheelchair or having a miserable life or both.

Drive to the outskirts of any metropolitan area of any city in the US and you'll find guys like this. Conversely, major downtown areas in the South are progressive. The real divide is not so much North vs. South as Urban vs. Rural.

Every human feels the need to take pride in something, those who don't suffer from depression because their brain naturally thinks of negative memories instead of positive ones.

When a human has nothing in their life going well for them they search for things and taking pride in their race is often what they end up doing. It helps their brain sleep at night, gets them through the day, prevents suicide etc. Racism is the byproduct of people feeling inferior.

We need to make a trend of "at least I'm not racist" or "look at these deplorables, I'm proud not to be one"

This is a tempting theory that maybe explains the trailer park Trumpfan88 people out there, but there are also a lot of successful rich white dudes with a lot of things going for them who revere Trump. Tribalism is just an incredibly powerful driving force for humans and we need to understand it better and tame it if we're ever going to be a functional multi-ethnic society.

This already exists. Plenty of people without much else going for them look down on Trump supporters.

I actually think actively maintaining a white supremacist model of the world in the face of the current media environment has almost certainly broken the minds of much of white america.

The population of South Georgia counties ranges from 30 to 65 percent black, so this really isn't true. This isn't true only for the not quite coastal counties.

Birmingham musician Phillip McCain has brought on the wrath of social media users who are upset about an expletive-laced Facebook post he made offering "to shoot" immigrants.

The post, which McCain appears to have taken down but lives on in screenshots spreading swiftly across social media, has even resulted in him being kicked out of his band Buck Wild and three venues canceling solo shows he had scheduled for the coming weeks.

"I'll tell ya what I'll volunteer to shoot their a**es when they approach the border. Problem solved. No more illegal f**ks coming in here. Period," McCain's Facebook post stated.

"I don't give a s**t about them, their kids, their s****y life or asylum. I care about American kids and American families. You've got to be a complete idiot to not get it, but then again we are talking about the libtard agenda. Liberalism is a mental disorder and I'm d**n sure glad that I'm not dumb s**t."

Yes I too think liberalism is a mental disorder, but also want to shoot random unarmed women and children for no apparent reason.

Lol they updated. The poor guy is misunderstood.

McCain told AL.com via telephone Tuesday evening that the response to his Facebook post is already having a significant negative impact on his life.

"I lost my job in my band Buck Wild, roughly $3,000 [in expected future performance fees], and I've lost three solo gigs already. And that's all for voicing my opinion, and yes, it was harsh, but it was just an opinion," he said.

He added that the Facebook post "was taken out of context. I really just meant that I would protect America's border at any cost. That's what I should have said and now I'm completely screwed."

He did not, however, recant the statement entirely, instead blaming the response on people's unwillingness to listen "the truth" as he defines it.

"I'm not the person I'm being made out to be right now. I'm just an American and I believe in America first, and that's something that people don't want to hear these days," he said. "When people speak the truth, they don't want to hear it these days. And now I've found myself in a s**tstorm, so to speak."
